NRL star Tom Burgess and wife Tahlia Giumelli welcome their third child – and reveal the little boy’s surprisingly heavy weight at birth

Tom Burgess and his wife Tahlia Giumelli have welcomed their third child.

The model and the England rugby player shared the good news on Instagram this weekend, introducing their baby boy and revealing his surprising birth weight.

‘Alfie Mark Burgess Born 8/8/24 at 4:04pm. Built like a Burgess, weighing 4kg and 54cm long,’ Tahlia, 30, wrote alongside images of the little one.

She added: ‘Our sweet little boy, the perfect addition to our family.’

Tahlia explained elsewhere that Tom, 31, assisted with the birth before taking to the field to play football with the Rabbitohs.

“Tom donned the gloves to help deliver our boy, then transitioned from midwife assistant to soccer player, finally making it out on the field just in time to play with his team,” she captioned a video of the newborn.

In a third post, Tahlia explained that Alfie is a ‘family name’, adding: ‘He is already adored and spoiled by his two big sisters.’

“Tom was brought into this world with the help of dad, our amazing gynecologist and midwives. We are so grateful to them for letting Tom be a part of this beautiful moment,” she said.

The couple announced their engagement on New Year’s Eve 2019, after three years of dating.

Tahlia announced her second pregnancy in August 2020 by posting a photo on Instagram showing her belly.

In November 2020, they welcomed their second daughter Elodie far too early, at just 36 weeks pregnant, and announced the birth on Instagram.

In July 2020, Tom and Tahlia announced that they had to postpone their wedding due to Covid-19 measures.

‘With another wave of Covid in NSW, the safety of our family and friends is and remains our priority.

“I have no doubt that it will be just as amazing when it happens. I really feel for all the brides who have had to do the same. But right now, a wedding just didn’t seem like my top priority.”

The couple were forced to postpone their wedding again, scrapping their most recent nuptial plans in December that year after Tom contracted Covid-19 while on holiday in Byron Bay.

In January 2022, they finally tied the knot.
