Disgraced former Titans captain Kevin Proctor has landed a career path by signing a two-year deal with English club Wakefield.
The 33-year-old back rower considered retiring after being fired by the Gold Coast in July for posting a video of himself vaping in the toilets of CommBank Stadium on social media during a game.
Kevin Proctor considered retiring after being sacked by the Gold Coast in July for posting a video of himself on social media in the toilets of CommBank Stadium during a match – but has now signed a deal with England club Wakefield
Proctor (pictured) was fined $20,000 and banned for four games by the Titans in 2017 after allegedly buying and consuming cocaine with Jesse Bromwich
Proctor did not play in the match but was the 19th man on the squad when he made the Instagram post captioned ‘not the half-time vape’.
Vaping is not allowed in or around the stadium – and for people to vape or smoke, they must request a pass-out and exit the stadium itself.
The Titans labeled his actions “stupid,” fined him $15,000 and later fired the veteran player.
“His actions violated both the NRL and stadium rules,” the club said in a statement.
Proctor blamed the breakdown of his marriage, his mother’s cancer diagnosis and a series of injuries for the infamous vape gate incident.

It has now been revealed that the 282 game veteran will finish his British Super League career with struggling side Wakefield on a ‘lucrative’ deal, according to Wide World of Sports.
Aside from the vape gate incident, Proctor has a history of indiscretions in rugby league.
Proctor was fined $20,000 and suspended for four games by the Titans in 2017 after allegedly buying and consuming cocaine with Jesse Bromwich.
Proctor said at the time that he could not remember most of the evening in question and was stepping down as the club’s co-captain.

Proctor was also found guilty of biting Shaun Johnson during his 250th NRL appearance in 2020, for which he was given a four-game suspension.
He denied biting his Kiwi teammate and tried vigorously to defend the charges, but a picture is worth a thousand words – and the NRL competition judging committee had no choice.
The Kiwi-born Proctor won a premiership at the Storm before playing for the Titans, appearing in 22 Tests.
