NRL legend Matty Johns makes heartbreaking confession as feud with brother Andrew takes a sad turn after the pair fell out over State of Origin
Andrew and Matthew Johns’ bitter feud appears to be unresolved, with the pair still not talking to each other.
Earlier this year, a huge row broke out between the brothers on SEN radio after former New South Wales star Matty praised Queensland coach Billy Slater.
Andrew, a die-hard Blue closely associated with the team’s coach Brad Fittler, took offense to his brother’s public praise for the Maroons, leading to an explosive argument.
Many fans and pundits expected the feud to blow over, but the pair are still not in talks despite SEN boss Craig Hutchison’s attempts to smooth things over between the siblings.
Andrew has since walked away from his Friday morning radio show and is not expected to return.
Matthew has since revealed he hasn’t spoken to his brother since the row first broke out in May, before casting doubt on whether they’ll patch things up before the end of the year.
“He hasn’t been spotted at Nobby’s yet,” Matthew told Sport Confidential via news.com.au.
‘Catch plans have been put on hold. Maybe we’ll see him at Christmas… maybe.”
Matthew recently revealed that he tried fix things with his younger brother and reach out when Andrew turned 49but got no response.
While Andrew has not spoken to Matthew, he does keep in touch with his brother’s sons, Jack and Cooper.
“I’m talking to him,” Knights backrower Jack recently said on a podcast. “He and I are very close.”
Matthew replied, “So you’re trading to the other side, huh, Judas?”
“Well, why don’t you all just join in and kick me, like your goddamn uncle, okay?
“Do you think Joey will call me and bury the hatchet? Or do you think he will carry on this grudge forever? Because I hope he lasts forever.’
