Footy bad boy Jarryd Hayne is criticized by former teammates for taking his stomach out of footage… after he learned the NRL legend was ‘too out of shape’ to return to the game

NRL bad boy Jarryd Hayne has developed a new skill in retirement: the art of slashing instagram photos to look his best, and he has not gone unnoticed by his former teammates.

Hayne is currently out on bail after nine months in jail at the Cooma Correctional Facility for the alleged sexual assault of a woman, which he has denied and maintains was consensual.

Despite a split jury at his first trial, he was convicted in a second trial for the alleged attack in Newcastle after the 2018 NRL grand final.

He was released in February after his conviction was overturned on appeal. The former Eels star now expects to go on trial for a third time in March.

Meanwhile, Hayne is enjoying his freedom and recently posted a photo on Instagram with his wife Amellia Bonnici spending time on a boat for her 35th birthday.

Hayne posted this photo with his wife Amellia Bonnici enjoying time at Hawkesbury for her 35th birthday, but received criticism from former teammates for cutting his guts out.

A weekend exploring Hawkesbury!! Thank you @amelliahayne for organizing such a big surprise for my birthday. I love you,’ she posted.

Tim Mannah, a former Parramatta captain and longtime friend of Hayne’s, couldn’t resist and mocked the camera angle Hayne chose for the photo.

Hayne had cropped the image so her post-retirement belly wouldn’t show.

“He’s learning our fine art of stomach-cutting from photos,” he replied while also tagging former NRL stars Corey Norman and Kenny Edwards.

“He’s a talent,” Norman responded with a series of laughing emojis.

“Chest and up right,” Hayne replied, also with several laughing emojis.

Former Newcastle Knights representative winger Akuila Uate and current South Sydney Rabbitoh and Fiji international Taane Milne posted their best wishes in the image.

While Hayne was once at the peak of fitness, his body after football with the Parramatta Eels, Gold Coast Titans, World Rugby Sevens Series and San Francisco 49ers in the NFL is not what it once was.

The former blues hero was photographed on Balmoral Beach with his wife and daughter Beliviah late last year sporting a strong daddy bod.

He hasn’t played professionally since his stint with the Titans in 2018.

Hayne is still staying active though, with recent images and videos surfacing online showing him playing Oztag and basketball in his home suburb of Auburn and neighboring suburb Fairfield to stay active.

Hayne has been trying to stay active and was filmed playing OzTag in Fairfield, the neighboring suburb of his Auburn home.

Hayne is far from the same figure he cut as a professional NRL player who also had stints in the NFL and rugby union.

He was even offered the chance to return to rugby league in Group 6 rugby league in NSW with the South West Goannas.

But Goannas president Mark Baird said Hayne ultimately turned him down because he wasn’t fit enough.

“Jarryd was thinking about it,” Baird said.

‘It would have been a fantastic draw card and he would have returned to community rugby league.

‘It didn’t work. Maybe he’s a little out of shape. Maybe financially, he was going to be out of our league.’
