Jack Wighton breaks down in tears as Canberra star embarks on ‘very tough week’ following his ‘messy’ move to South Sydney as Raiders star helps his side to dramatic gold point victory over the Dolphins
Jack Wighton struggled to hold back tears as the Canberra star lifted the lid on what he described as a ‘very tough week’ following his side’s gold point victory over the Dolphins.
Wighton has been in the spotlight all week following a controversial move to South Sydney Rabbitohs, which has led the NRL to open an investigation into the Bunnies after he took a $1 million pay cut to move to NSW.
The 30-year-old was subject to vicious abuse on social media, while also drawing criticism for ditching the Raiders after 14 years at the club.
And speaking to Fox League after his team’s 31-30 victory over the Dolphins, Wighton wore his heart on his sleeve.
“It was huge,” he said. “It’s been a really tough week. Some messy decisions and stuff, so to come and win this with my brothers is big.”

While walking away from the Fox Sports crew, Wighton was seen wiping away tears and was comforted by the Raiders staff.
