The Cleveland Guardians had thrown their pre-game preparations into chaos when their must-win game with the Yankees was postponed Monday-evening due to rain.
The Guardians checked out of their hotel and headed to Yankee Stadium, where the game was canceled late.
It meant staying an extra night in New York, but as ESPN reporter Eduardo Perez explained, it was far from easy to organize on such short notice.
He told SportsCenter, before Tuesday’s game finally went ahead: “The Guardians didn’t just have to check out of their hotel, [to Yankee Stadium] with their bags, not knowing if their plane would go back to Cleveland if they lost last night or to Houston [to face the Houston Astros in Game 1 of the ALCS] if they have won.
