Now Massachusetts is trying to disqualify Trump in 2024
Voters in Illinois and Massachusetts have joined the fight to ban Donald Trump from the 2024 election by claiming he was part of an “insurrection” on January 6.
Free Speech for People is the organization behind the national effort to disqualify the Republican frontrunner heading to the Supreme Court.
The liberal advocacy group claims he cannot run for office because he violated the insurrection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution.
They have now filed two new petitions following the controversial decisions in Colorado and Maine that Trump is ineligible to run for office due to his role on January 6.
The Supreme Court is expected to hear at least one of the cases seeking to end Trump's 2024 presidential candidacy after his lawyers appealed.

But efforts are still underway in Oregon to have the ex-president removed from the primary.
Trump is back on the ballot in Colorado, and will remain there if the Supreme Court does not hear the case or rule in favor of the decision to kick him out of the election.
Attorney Alina Habba said Thursday evening that she believes Judge Brett Kavanaugh, whom Trump nominated to the court, will stand up and “fight” for the former president.
Free Speech for People also challenged his eligibility in Minnesota and Michigan, but the cases were dismissed.
Trump still dominates the rest of the Republican field in the polls, with just ten days until the crucial Iowa caucuses.
He and his campaign have called the bids to kick him out “election interference.”
Many political commentators have also suggested that the measures will boost his approval ratings and strengthen his support among Republican voters.
In Illinois, voters have asked the state's election board to hold a hearing on whether Trump should be barred from both the primary and general elections.

“Donald J. Trump, by his words and actions, having taken an oath as an officer of the United States to support the Constitution, has engaged in insurrection or rebellion, or has provided aid and comfort to his enemies, as defined in Section 3 of the Constitution Fourteenth Amendment,” the petition reads.
The petition also claims that Trump has “never expressed remorse” or “apologized” on behalf of his supporters for January 6.
The Illinois State Board of Elections had yet to submit the petition for consideration Thursday afternoon.
The board will address 32 other objections to the proposed vote at its Jan. 11 meeting.
Former Boston Mayor Kim Janey, a Democrat, was part of the challenge in Massachusetts.
A mix of “Republican, Independent and Democratic voters” also signed the petition, according to Free Speech For People.
