Now ex-CBI boss John Allan is losing his job at Barratt after allegations of inappropriate behavior towards women

Former CBI boss John Allan has lost his second job in less than a week after allegations of inappropriate behavior towards women cost him more than £1 million in annual earnings.

Barratt Developments said he will step down as chairman at the end of June – about two months ahead of schedule.

The homebuilder said Allan would leave “to avoid the lingering impact of the allegations.” [him] not become disruptive to the company’.

Tesco said on Friday that Allan would step down from his role as chairman next month.

The departure means the city’s grandee is losing more than £1 million in revenue a year. Allan received £345,000 from Barratt and £713,000 from Tesco.

It comes amid a wider scandal sweeping the CBI over its culture and treatment of female staff – including an alleged rape and drug abuse case.

Tony Danker was fired as director general last month and the lobby group is fighting for survival.

Allan served as president of the CBI from 2018 to 2020 and vice president until 2021.

He is accused of touching the buttocks of two women and making inappropriate comments to two others.

Allan denies three of the allegations and has apologized “without reservation” for a fourth in which he told a female CBI employee that a dress “fitted her figure.”

But a spokesman for Barratt said the 74-year-old had been asked to leave “at the request of the board.”

No complaints were filed against Allan during his nine years with Barratt.

He blamed “completely baseless allegations” against him for his departure from Tesco, adding: “There is no evidence of any wrongdoing at that time or at any stage of my presidency at Tesco and I remain determined to prove my innocence .’
