Nova’s Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie set to take on KIIS FM’s Kyle & Jackie O Show in major shake up

The battle for radio supremacy in New South Wales is heating up.

According to Yahoo lifestyleNova’s Fitzy & Wippa featuring Kate Ritchie are ready for a shake-up to steal some loyal listeners from Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson.

An insider told the publication that the Nova trio plans to extend their morning broadcast for an additional hour, from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., instead of their usual 9 a.m. finish.

This bold move pits them head-to-head against the reigning champions, The Kyle & Jackie O Show, who compete from 6am to 10am.

“Nova has been discussing this for a while but wanted to wait until Kyle and Jackie O took their eye off the ball and focused on Melbourne to expand,” the insider told Yahoo.

The Kyle and Jackie O Show is currently the most listened to radio program in Sydney, with a total of 851,000 listeners tuning in every weekday.

The KIIS FM show launched in Melbourne on April 29.

In April, Kyle, 52, and Jackie, 49, made a bold prediction about how their show will be received in Melbourne.

The pair claimed that their breakfast program will attract a large audience all year round, becoming the highest-rated show in the city.

The bold move pits them head-to-head against the reigning champions, The Kyle & Jackie O Show, who will be on watch from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.

“A lot of freaks down there are going to love us. I don’t think it will happen right away, it will take a few surveys to realistically crack them,” Kyle told the Herald Sun.

“I don’t think it will be immediately, but it will be towards the end of the year [we will be number one].’

Jackie added that she was confident their show would ultimately beat Melbourne’s other top-rated radio programs.

“We’ll just do our thing and whether that’s a slow burn or an immediate impact, I’m confident this will ultimately be the number one show,” she said.

“We don’t think about ratings, we just have fun.”
