Novak Djokovic storms ahead two sets in Wimbledon semifinal clash with Italian Jannik Sinner in battle for a spot in Sunday’s final
Serbian tennis superstar Novak Djokovic will face Italy’s Jannik Sinner in two sets in the Wimbledon semifinals.
The seven-time champion warmed up for Friday’s Wimbledon semi-finals with some practice time under the roof on No. 1 Court before heading to Center Court to face Italy’s Sinner.
Early on, Novak put himself on track for another SW19 final after winning the first set 6-3. Sinner did have break point opportunities in two of Djokovic’s service games, but was unable to finish them and found himself trailing in the game.
The match was not without controversy – as Sinner was penalized in the second set by British umpire Richard Haigh.
He said Djokovic’s roar came too late after his shot and could have scared off his opponent.

Djokovic charged across, demanding ‘what are you doing?’, before refocusing and continuing to dominate – winning the next three points to win the match.
Sinner still has the mob on his side, and as the no doubt went down, he’s ready to keep them, and they erupt when he steals a point back.
But while he may be behind on the pitch against the defending champions, Sinner still has a lot to cheer about.

The Italian polygot – who has his own logo – is a top 10 tennis player, was a former skiing champion as a junior, is a successful model at Gucci and even has his own devoted ‘Carota Boys’ fan club.
One thing he has yet to do, still in the infancy of his career at age 21, is make his way to a Grand Slam final. Today he has that same chance – albeit against Novak Djokovic, the greatest player ever in the men’s game.
It is difficult to portray Sinner as an unknown great when he is the poster child of the ‘next generation’ alongside world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz.
Sinner was born in August 2001 in San Candido, a small town in northern Italy near the Austrian border, and grew up in a humble environment with parents Hanspeter and Siglinde.
Sinner, who beat Roman Safiullin to reach the last four, left home at the age of 13 to really make tennis a success.
