The Tricky Trees already brought in a Brazilian star this January after Gustavo Scarpa joined earlier in the month.
He made his debut as a substitute in Forest’s 1-0 win over Southampton and made his first FA Cup start on Saturday, losing 4-1 to Blackpool.
Despite his youth, Danilo has already established himself as a regular in Brazil and made 53 appearances for the club in 2022, winning three trophies.
Defensive players of their quality could be vital for Forest as they battle for their place in the Premier League, as their goal difference is currently 15 goals worse than Leeds’, despite the teams being even on points.
If the deal goes through, he will be the 24th signing for Steve Cooper’s team this season.
Cooper has admitted that he wants to get stronger in the coming weeks, as he said on Monday: ‘We are in the middle of the season in January and we have an opportunity to improve the team.
‘I’m just thinking about what’s next. I have a very strong relationship with Filippo. [Giraldi, Forest’s sporting director] and that’s good for trying to make the right decisions in terms of moving forward.
“It’s a very busy time as it’s January and I know there’s a lot of work to be done.”
