Nottingham Forest have demanded Rob Jones be banned from officiating their matches following the referee's blunder in sending off Willy Boly in the 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth.

Howard Webb, the head of Professional Game Match Officials Ltd (PGMOL), has contacted new Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo to confirm that Jones made a serious mistake by showing Boly a second yellow card in the Premier League Saturday's match. according to the Telegraaf.

Forest have reportedly filed a complaint demanding any recording of the conversation between the referee and the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) regarding the incident.

It is the second time this season that Forest have lodged a complaint against Jones with PGMOL, having done so following their 3-2 defeat to Manchester United in September.

Jones was on VAR duty when supporting referee Stuart Attwell in two controversial calls against Forest: the dismissal of Joe Worrall for a foul on last-man Bruno Fernandes, and the match-winning late penalty scored by Fernandes after Danilo was judged to have made a mistake . Marcus Rasford.

Boly was sent off in the 23rd minute for two yellow cards, with referee Rob Jones waving the second despite the defender clearly winning the ball in a tackle with Adam Smith.

Dominic Solanke then broke Forest hearts when he completed a hat-trick and headed home the winner in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

Nuno Espirito Santo had called for a change in the rules after his first game in charge of Nottingham Forest was ruined by a controversial red card for Willy Boly in a last-gasp 3-2 draw against Bournemouth.

Nuno, who took over from the sacked Steve Cooper earlier this week, became frustrated with the rules which mean VAR cannot intervene to downgrade a yellow card and wants to see that changed.

“Very bad decision,” said Nuno. 'A decision that completely changed the game.

'It's more the frustration when you know that the referee's approach is bad and that the law says you can't reverse the decision because there are two yellow cards. It's something they have to look at because there's no point.

'First of all, the referee's approach is bad. Boly has a first yellow card, which is fair, but for the second Boly's foot is under the Bournemouth player's foot, so the approach (of the referee) has to be more careful.

'Wait a little longer for the help of an assistant or the help of the VAR, wait a moment and they will tell you. But after that he cannot reverse the decision.

“Our fans deserve better decisions. They come here to see football and suddenly they see something that really changes the game.

“I've seen it over and over again to try to understand it because I respect the referee. I know it's a tough job. I've seen it many times and I can't understand it, I can't understand it. It was bad. It's a mistake, a big mistake.'

Ten-man Forest took the lead through Anthony Elanga before two goals in seven minutes from Solanke put the Cherries ahead.
