Nottingham Forest CEO Dane Murphy has resigned from his role at the club to “look for other opportunities”, the club announced on Monday morning.
The American, who previously had a similar role at Barnsley, was appointed chief executive of Forest in July 2021 and helped oversee their return to the Premier League.
His role came under threat in October, when manager Steve Cooper and head of recruiting George Sirianos were also at risk of losing their jobs following the club’s poor start to the season.

Like Cooper, Murphy managed to keep his position, but has now left just three months later. as reported by The Telegraph they affirm his relationship with other key figures has become strained in recent months.
In a statement about the club’s websiteMurphy confirmed his decision to leave before thanking fans for the ‘unbridled passion’ displayed during his tenure at The City Ground.
Murphy said: ‘I’ve never been a defender, nor indeed have I ever been good at goodbyes. It’s so much easier to give thanks and acknowledge those who made my time at Forest so special.
‘Nottingham is a community of people who work before they talk. That they focus on what is most important and commit to the genuine causes that allow them to progress.
“The unbridled passion for this football club, passed down from generation to generation, reverberates throughout the sport. That passion is the true north that guides players, staff and everyone at The City Ground.

Murphy gave a special mention to Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis in his message.
Murphy joined The City Ground team after a two-year spell as CEO at Barnsley de Championship.
During his time at the club, Barnsley transformed into a promotion-chasing side, narrowly missing out on a ticket to the top flight after defeat in the Play-Offs two seasons ago.
Murphy has overseen a similar transformation at Forest, helping the team secure promotion to the Premier League last season.
Cooper’s team, after a turbulent start to the season, have begun to stabilize their ship and are currently 15th in the league table.
