Dean Henderson will remain at Nottingham Forest until the end of the season, even though the Manchester United goalkeeper on loan will miss the rest of the season with an injury.
Henderson had surgery this week for a torn thigh muscle and it is unclear when he can return.
But while he may never play for Forest again, Henderson still spends time with his current teammates on the training pitch and on match days.
“We’ve all enjoyed working with him,” said Forest boss Steve Cooper. “We like his personality, he is a good professional and has a fantastic mentality. Whether we will work with him again is hard to say.
“We are grateful for what he has given and what he will give us. It will still be there and highly visible.

Steve Cooper was reluctant when asked if he would like to work with Henderson again
“Our medical team is working with United on what they want us to contribute to his recovery. In terms of support, he will stay with us until the end, whatever he wants.’
“We have a good working relationship with United and communication. It is still fresh after surgery what his recovery plan will be. We wish him well.’
Henderson’s final appearance for Forest came in the 2–0 win over Leicester on 14 January. His injury prompted Forest to sign Keylor Navas on loan from Paris St Germain, and the Costa Rican has been playing ever since.
Navas’ form has fluctuated during his time at the City Ground and he will play a vital role in the last four games of the season. Forest are in the bottom three but could climb out if they beat Southampton at home on Monday and other results work in their favour.
