Notoriously shy, Tracy Grimshaw ‘walks away two major journalism awards to avoid being seen’ as she withdraws from public life entirely after leaving A Current Affair
Notoriously private, Tracy Grimshaw has gone to extreme measures to avoid stepping back into the spotlight six months after leaving A Current Affair.
The veteran reporter, 62, reportedly turned down two of this year’s most coveted journalism awards, because she “wants to avoid the media circus” that comes with high-profile award ceremonies.
Grimshaw initially accepted lifetime achievement awards from both the Melbourne Press Club, but later changed her mind due to the “hullabaloo surrounding her receiving the award”.
He is said to have turned down another lifetime award from the Sydney-based Kennedy Awards for the same reason.
“Tracy is a no-nonsense person who doesn’t like all the fuss,” a Nine source told The Australian’s. media journal.

“He is on the first sabbatical from his career and is really enjoying the opportunity to get away from the media circus.”
Grimshaw is fiercely private about her personal life and enjoys her solitude living alone on a sprawling farm in rural New South Wales.
An earlier report of New Idea magazine he stated that Grimshaw suffers from a crippling “shyness” and finds solitude “less daunting”.
As reported by Media Diary, Grimshaw initially accepted the Melbourne Press Club’s lifetime achievement awards, but later changed her mind due to the “uproar surrounding her receiving the award”. She subsequently turned down another lifetime award from the Sydney-based Kennedy Awards for the same reason, the publication claims.
“Tracy has struggled with shyness her entire career…she’s so introverted that it actually affects her daily life,” a source told the mag in 2016.
“The person you see on TV is not the same person you’d see on the street,” they said of Grimshaw, who is known for exuding confidence in her role in A Current Affair.

speaking to The Kyle and Jackie O Show. Prior to her departure, Tracy said she hoped to enjoy a well-deserved break in her career.
‘I’m having a year off and I’m not going to do anything for a whole year. I’m restoring my work-life balance to pura vida next year,’ she replied when asked if she would be moving to another news show in 2023.
“But then, you never know what he might do in 2024,” he added sheepishly.
