Vandals have broken into a mausoleum and smashed open a coffin belonging to the sister of a feared underworld boss.
Meshlin Marrogi’s final resting place at Preston General Cemetery in Melbourne’s north was desecrated on Sunday.
The woman who had also built a reputation in the city’s underworld died in 2021 aged just 30 after being struck down by Covid.
The ‘sick’ perpetrators smashed items inside before dragging her coffin a short distance and breaking it open.
Police are now investigating whether the attack was a gangland message to her notorious brother George Marrogi who is currently in prison for murder.

Devastated mourners flocked to the cemetery on Monday, The Herald Sun reported.
Among them was Ms Marrogi’s mother, Madlin Enwiya, who was seen hugging another woman as she burst into tears behind the cordoned off section of the mausoleum.
The bereaved mother said she regularly visits her daughter’s grave – sometimes more than once a day.
Another family member labeled the vandalism ‘sick’ and urged police to find the perpetrators while a Victoria Police Public Order Response Team vehicle was stationed at the cemetery during the day.

Meshlin is credited with playing a key role in the rise of her brother’s Notorious Crime Family (NCF) empire.
Police allege that her personality and knack for business led her brother’s empire to diversify into a wide variety of business interests.
NCF initially started as a fundraiser for children in the family’s Syrian village of origin, but investigators claim it created most of the network of companies used to launder NCF profits.
Her brother, George Marrogi, was sentenced to 32 years in prison for the 2016 brutal public execution of rival drug dealer Kadir Ors in Campbellfield.

Conflict between Middle Eastern organized crime families has escalated in recent months, with figures both against and aligned with the Marrogi family being targeted.
A series of incendiaries, arson attacks and flares have been carried out in Melbourne, with police hoping to halt the non-fatal attacks on property before tensions escalate further.
A forensic team has examined the mausoleum and police are looking for CCTV footage in and around the cemetery.
The area where the window was smashed has no CCTV cameras and was the closest route to Ms Marrogi’s grave.
