Not the pizza topping she wanted! Personal assistant, 21, says she found bitten FINGERNAIL on her Domino’s delivery

A woman claims she felt ‘sick’ after discovering the crunchy topping on her Domino’s pizza was a bitten fingernail she was chewing.

Sophie Fruen ordered a medium ‘create your own’ pizza with chicken, mushrooms, onion and corn on November 11, during a night out with her boyfriend and sister in Worksop, 20 miles from Sheffield.

The 21-year-old ate what she initially thought was one of the crunchy toppings, while her boyfriend Jay Kendall, 20, and sister Evangeline, ten, snacked on theirs.

The personal assistant was outraged to discover what she said was a “bitten fingernail” lurking in the dough.

Nauseated, Mrs Fruen says she called the Worksop branch eight times, where she collected the order, but could not get through.

Mrs Fruen said: ‘I had already eaten one piece of pizza. As I chewed the second piece of pizza, it was crispy.

‘At first I thought it was a piece of crispy corn or onion, until I spit it out.

“I think it’s a fingernail, it’s like someone bit the end of their fingernail off, I saw it right away.

‘It was the whole top of a nail. I’m pretty sure someone bit it off because there were small breaks in the nail.

“It made me feel sick and then I didn’t want to eat the rest of my pizza.”

Sophie, her boyfriend and sister jumped in the car and drove to the branch with the pizza and the offending item.

After explaining the situation, the plumber sales assistant, Mr. Kendall, requested a replacement and refund.

But Mr Kendall, who waited in the car with her sister, claims that after handing over the fresh pizza he was told he would no longer get his money back.

Now the couple, who spent £35 on pizzas, chicken stripers and chocolate dough balls, are refusing to eat there again in the future.

Ms Fruen continued: ‘I tried calling Domino’s eight times but they didn’t answer so I finally had to drive the nail in the box.

‘I was in the car with my sister, so my boyfriend took him.

‘There was a lady behind the counter who was very shocked, she went to get a manager.

The Nottinghamshire girl took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to highlight her experiences

She was unimpressed by the automated response she received addressing her as “Sorry, FIRST NAME” and had not included her name in the sentence

“He came out and said, ‘Would you rather have a pizza or a refund?’ He said both and it’s not hygienic.

‘He waited twenty minutes for the pizza. When my friend said, “What about the refund?” he said ‘you won’t get a refund because we made your pizza’.

“I was more annoyed because everyone else’s food at home had gotten cold, so they all had cold pizza.

‘I took a good look at the replacement pizza, because I didn’t really feel like eating another fingernail. It put me off, I didn’t really want to eat it.

‘We order there every few weeks for a year. It was one of my favorite takeaways.

‘I used to love Domino’s but not anymore, it has put my sister off eating it too.’

The girl from Nottinghamshire took to had made sense.

Ms Fruen said: ‘I don’t even think it would be a big deal if it was a hair because of course hair can always fall out, you can’t really do anything about that.

“But the fact that that’s someone’s fingernail and someone physically bit it [is bad].

“Even if someone’s nail is broken, you know when your nail is broken. You would say to someone, “we have to throw away the rest of this dough, I broke a nail”.

“I won’t order from that store again.”

After being contacted for comment, Domino’s said they had been in touch with Sophie and offered a full refund and replacement pizza.

A Domino’s spokesperson said: ‘Great tasting, high quality pizza is what we pride ourselves on and all our food undergoes strict, thorough quality control before being sent to customers.

‘We have contacted this customer and offered a full refund and a replacement pizza to make up for them not being able to enjoy their Domino’s on this occasion.’
