We love movie recommendations here at Polygon. But us Also I love recommending TV shows. Whether it’s horror, sci-fi, miniseries, comedy, thrillers or just the best of the year, we always try to introduce readers to new and exciting shows that they will love. And now – after a lot of film work – we want to find the perfect TV show for you. (We mean you.)
That’s why we regularly have an open thread dedicated to helping you, our dear readers, find the perfect watch. Looking for a limited series that tells a standalone story with questions that will stick with you forever? We got you. Are you looking for the next best sitcom to watch so you can take a break from the sitcom you’ve been on repeat? We have you there too.
From 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM EDT, I’ll be answering your questions and making requests about what to watch in the comments section below. This is also a great place to share what you’ve been watching, if you’d like to talk about it with your fellow Polygon readers! Participation is very welcome, even without questions.
A little about me, your curator for this round: I’m Joshua Rivera, Polygon’s entertainment writer. I’m an extreme omnivore when it comes to my media diet, and what I get into can vary quite a bit depending on when you ask me. While I spend a lot of my time keeping up with new releases, I’ve been rewatching a lot of stuff from what I call the “box set era” – shows that were huge on DVD, like Lost, Supernatural, The sopranosand so on.
I’m often on the road in the summer, where it’s easier to read or play games than watch stuff, but now if you want a bit of a mood board from me, it would look something like this: Scavengers rule, Lorelei and the Laser EyeS, I saw the TV glow (which has also led to a sporadic Buffy the Vampire Slayer review), Sugar (I’m Polygon’s #1 Sugar Fan) and Layla Martinez’s beautifully angry and haunting novel Woodworm.
I bring this up because I love combining things through different mediums. So if you don’t have an existing TV show as a reference point for what you’re looking for, use a comic, a video game, or an album that gave you the buzz you were looking for, and I’ll see what I can do! Keep in mind that the focus here is on TV recommendations, so TV is what you get in response.
