Norwich crashed to a third consecutive defeat when their former player Carlton Morris scored the winner before improving on Luton, putting the pressure on Canaries manager Dean Smith.

Norwich fans turned on him and his players, although referee Oliver Langford was the main villain of the home crowd for sending Kenny McLean hard shortly after Luton’s goal.

It took the Canaries a long time to turn possession into a good chance, but Josh Sargent’s snapshot from the edge of the area finally put Ethan Horvath to the test.

Teemu Pukki had increasingly difficult opportunities as Luton closed the space.

A switch from the back saw the Finn come in just before half-time, but despite dodging James Bree, Pukki’s shot from 12 yards was far too high. Some of the Carrow Road stalwarts whooped as the halftime whistle sounded.

Danel Sinani shot past a decent chance within a minute of the restart before Aaron Ramsey, hired from Aston Villa, was much closer 10 minutes later with a 20m effort.

Norwich’s evening came crashing down in the 62nd minute as Morris Luton took the lead with a smart finish from the left side of the box after Ben Gibson relinquished possession.

Four minutes later, McLean was shown an instant red for using a hand in Tom Lockyer’s face as the pair struggled.
