Northwestern University’s Chicago campus is put in LOCKDOWN as cops race to reports of an active shooter: Alert tells students to ‘run, hide, fight’

Police in Chicago have been called to the city’s Northwestern University after reports that there is a live gunman on campus.

Shots were reported outside the university’s Wieboldt Hall, according to a message posted on the school’s website at 9:12 p.m.

“There is an Active Threat event on the Chicago campus,” the university’s safety and security department wrote.

‘Run, hide, fight. Provide a good hiding place.

‘Lock and/or barricade doors. Awaiting further information.’

It was not immediately clear if anyone was injured. Authorities did not immediately provide further information on the situation.
