Northgate crash: Horror as car mounts a kerb killing a pedestrian in Brisbane

A pedestrian has been killed after a car crashed into the curb and sidewalk at a busy intersection in Brisbane.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at the corner of Dethridge Street and Melton Road in Northgate in the city’s north shortly after 5.30am on Wednesday.

The seriously injured male pedestrian could not be resuscitated by paramedics and died at the scene.

Crash investigation investigators remain on scene as they try to determine what happened.

Officers interviewed witnesses and took photos of the crash site, including the damaged car on the sidewalk.

The driver has now been arrested and is speaking to the police.

The intersections remain closed.

‘Melton Road is closed near Dethridge Street due to a serious road traffic collision. Expect delays and avoid the area if possible,” a police warning said.
