Northampton are in talks with the Royal Navy over prostitute Sam Matavesi ahead of Saturday’s Premiership semi-final at Saracens as it clashes with the Army-Navy fixture.
Fiji international Matavesi is a serving member of the navy and there is a precedent for players to miss major matches representing the armed forces.
With or without Matavesi, Northampton head coach Sam Vesty insists his side are ‘pumped’ to take on the Saracens.
When the sides met last month, his Saints came out top 38-29, which they hope to repeat for a place in their first final since winning the league in 2014.
They have not featured since Newcastle’s 66-5 demolition and Vesty reckons his side have been re-energized for their post-season push.

He said, “The guys are definitely pumped for the semi. We had fun and spent some time together away from rugby. We’ve been steadily ramping up training and are in a good spot.
“You’ve put in a lot of effort to get to these games and it’s really the exciting part – hopefully two more games and everyone is looking forward to that, so very exciting.”
Saracens finished top of the table and hope to win their first title since 2016.
Vesty said: ‘They are a really good team and we need to play well and play well for a long time and I think if we do that we will win. If we don’t do that, or if we only play well in patches, it will be tough.’
