North Carolina chain surprisingly chosen as America’s best breakfast sandwich in new poll

McDonald’s, Dunkin Donuts and Wendy’s often compete for the top spot for fast food breakfast in the US.

Local, independent coffee shops and national chains like Starbucks also compete for your money in the morning.

But a little-known chain called Biscuitville finished first in USA Today’s Authoritative Rankingsas voted by readers.

Del Taco came in second, Jack in the Box third, and last year’s runner-up, McDonald’s, dropped to fourth. Dunkin’ rounded out the top five. Biscuitville was also top last year.

“Who doesn’t love a delicious cookie breakfast?” according to USAToday.

Biscuitville has been named the best breakfast chain in USA Today’s authoritative rankings

‘With locations in Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina, Biscuitville’s fresh-baked cookies can be enjoyed in a variety of ways, from simple biscuits with bacon, egg and cheese or fried chicken to more elaborate breakfast sandwiches like their Spicy Chicken & Jalapeño Pimento Cheese Biscuit.

“With breakfast platters and sides of grits, hash browns or gravy, plus delicious sweet treats like their blueberry muffins, it’s no wonder people keep coming back.”

The North Carolina breakfast classic dates back to 1966 in Burlington, when two stores opened under the name Mountainbrook Fresh Bread & Milk.

Nine years later, the first real Biscuitville opened in Danville, VA in 1975, with locations in North Carolina following soon after. There are now over 50 locations.

In the same USA Today ranking, Chick-fil-A was edged out of the list of America’s favorite fast food restaurants by KFC and Del Taco.

Last year, Chick-fil-A finished first in USA Today Ranking.

This year, KFC and Del Taco were outsiders of sorts. Neither had ever made the previous top ten. But this time, they not only made the list, they actually rose to the top.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Taco Bell will expand the use of artificial intelligence (AI) voice technology in its drive-thru restaurants, the announcement was made on Wednesday.

The technology will be rolled out in hundreds of U.S. stores by the end of the year, according to parent company Yum! Brands said.

This means that when customers come in to order a Cheesy Gordita Crunch or a Chicken Quesadilla, chances are they’re talking to an AI instead of a human.

Taco Bell’s expansion of the technology comes weeks after rival McDonald’s announced it would completely phase out automated chatbots at drive-thru locations.
