A 14-year-old North Carolina boy has died after going into cardiac arrest while riding a bull at a rodeo after falling from an animal that trampled on his chest.
Cowboy Denim Bradshaw spent the last moments of his life doing what he loved before emergency services were summoned to the Rafter K. Rodeo on Saturday night.
Bradshaw was participating in the winter series of the rodeo when he fell off the bull and was trampled on the chest by the animal, an onlooker said. WFMY.
His grieving mother recalled the traumatic event calling it “the longest night of [her] life.’
“My beautiful and handsome 14 year old son has gone to be with the Lord,” Shannon Bowman wrote on Facebook. ‘I woke up in a nightmare for the rest of my life… I was loving every second. She had never seen him as happy as she had seen him last night before he left.
The bull trampled on Bradshaw’s chest and he went into cardiac arrest

Two EMTs at the event began performing life-saving measures on Bradshaw until emergency services arrived. He was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Heartbroken, Bowman recalled his son’s passion for horseback riding.
“Danim baby you did it,” Bowman wrote. ‘You did that!! I am so proud of your bravery and courage! My little cowboy, I will love and miss you very much and I know that God will take care of you.’
Horrified onlookers recalled the scene as Bradshaw fell to the ground.
Amanda Paquette, whose son was also participating in the event, was traumatized to see Bradshaw die after weeks of anticipating the event.
“Like a single mom, I spent the last two weeks saving money to buy my son everything he needed for the rodeo,” Paquette told the news outlet.
“I wanted to make sure she had everything she needed to be safe, but she has no idea her son won’t be there with her the next day.”
Several people at the event were seen bowing their heads. Bradshaw was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Rafter K Rodeo Company announced Bradford’s death Sunday and recalled how everyone came together to help.
Snapshots shared since then showed rodeo attendees bowing their heads and removing their stetsons to pay tribute to Denim.
“Our sport is truly a family and we are so grateful for everyone who was there to help,” the statement read. ‘We are thankful for our EMTs, paramedics and law enforcement officers who work so hard to care for the cowboys.
‘This is a tragic event and words cannot describe the pain felt by this loss. We ask everyone to join in praying for his family for comfort and healing at this difficult time.’
