Normani is under scrutiny after she clumsily dodged a question about whether or not she has her own fan account on social media.
During a new interview with The cut, Normani “calmly” admitted that she is “absolutely heavily involved” with fan pages, but would not confirm whether she or her team at RCA are behind the popular X account (formerly Twitter) @NormaniNation.
When the publication pressed her on the issue, Normani’s publicist intervened and asked them to “skip this question.”
The speculation started in February after @NormaniNation posted a screenshot of Normani’s recently released Instagram account with the caption “WHAT IS HAPPENING.”
Eagle-eyed fans quickly noticed that the shared screenshot was taken by someone logged into the singer’s account, leading many to believe that Normani himself runs the fan page.

Following her new interview with The Cut, fans were quick to speak out online, with one X user calling the situation “so embarrassing”
“I don’t think I can ever take her seriously again after this,” another fan wrote, while a third person stated, “oh she got caught in the act.”
Another fan made a suggestion for the Atlanta, Georgia native, writing on X, “I can’t be mad, self love is the best love, she just needs to learn how to lie better.”
Although the backlash was fierce, Normani, 27, was not without her supporters, who insist it is not unusual for music artists to have fan accounts managed by their teams.
‘I just don’t understand why this is so serious, like why doesn’t her team just say “Yes, we manage the account for Normani to help her fans stay informed about her”, like what is this strategy?? one person shared on X, as reported by The buzz.
“Whether she’s in charge or not, who cares. It’s her way of interacting with her fans,” another X user wrote, while one fan described celebrities with their own fan pages as “genius.”
All this chatter comes during the final leg to the release of her highly anticipated solo studio album, Dopamine, due out in June.

‘At that time I could have released three albums. I’m not aware of that,” she told The Cut. “But I felt like I owed it to myself to take my time, reinvent it and be experimental.”
After dedicating several years to Fifth Harmony without having any artistic control over their own music, Normani decided that in the future she would only release music that she could stand behind creatively and artistically.
Dopamine is named after the emotional rollercoaster of her final years, many of which she has kept close to the vest with these new songs until now.
She revealed the title earlier this year, just before releasing the first single, 1:59 featuring rapper Gunna, in early April.
