Nordstrom Westfield Topanga Mall is ransacked by a wild swarm of FIFTY looters targeting the Bottega Veneta concession
Horrifying footage shows the moment when up to 50 looters ransacked a luxury accessories concession at a Nordstrom store in Los Angeles.
The footage shows men in dark hoodies and face masks looting the department store in Westfield Topanga Mall, even resorting to attacking security guards with bear spray.
Videos quickly circulated on social media showing the mob smashing display cases and stealing high-end designer accessories, some of which are still attached with electronic security tags.
One of the thieves was even seen pulling a large metal display shelf behind him as he fled, with a luxury leather bag still attached with a security tag.
The group sprinted to the door in an effort to quickly exit the store and secure as much merchandise as possible.
The thieves made off with thousands of dollars worth of luxury handbags and designer clothes, an LAPD spokesman told NBC News.
The group swarmed the store around 4 p.m. on Saturday, picking up armfuls of items, some of which fell unintentionally in the chaos, as they maneuvered around broken glass and overturned mannequins.

The men appeared to be targeting luxury Italian fashion brand Bottega Veneta, known for its signature woven leather handbags.
Investigators believe the group stole approximately $60,000 and $100,000 worth of goods.
The criminals used bear spray to attack at least two security guards in the store. The severity of their injuries is unclear.
Bear spray, which comes from pressurized canisters, contains capsaicin and other ingredients that can inflame the eyes and upper respiratory tract.
Store visitors were not evacuated and it is unclear if anyone was injured. No arrests have been reported at this time. The police are looking for 30 to 50 suspects.
Witnesses saw the looters break free, several in vehicles, including Lexus and BMW cars.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass responded to the incident in a statement Saturday night: “What happened today at the Nordstrom in the Topanga Mall is absolutely unacceptable,” she wrote.
In the statement, Bass assured the public that police will find those responsible.

“Those who committed these acts and acted in such a way in neighboring areas must be held accountable. The Los Angeles Police Department will continue to work not only to find those responsible for this incident, but also to prevent these attacks on retailers in the future,” she added.

Last week, stunned bystanders witnessed the shocking moment when a gang of at least 30 brazen thieves raided an Yves Saint Laurent store in a California luxury mall.
Videos posted online showed several people in dark clothing, hoods and masks entering the Americana at Brand store shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday and then quickly running out.
Glendale police said the thieves got away with about $300,000 in merchandise after overwhelming staff and taking everything they could in less than a minute.
None of the thieves used weapons in the brutal scheme, and no injuries were reported.
An investigation is underway as California continues to face a spate of robberies after lawmakers lowered the penalty for theft of property to less than $950.
Robberies have become almost commonplace in California, where theft of items worth $950 or less is a felony.
Those convicted of such a crime can face up to six months in prison, but in most cases the police do not even bother to report the crime.
Last month, another group of brazen thieves stole about $300,000 worth of jewelry from a store in La Verne.
The thieves were caught on camera slamming a white sedan into the Rodeo Jewelers on July 1 before beginning to vandalize suitcases.
The robbery took place in broad daylight and the owner, who emerged through the back of the store, was attacked with a chair as he confronted the group.
That same weekend, thieves also escaped with more than $700,000 worth of rare wines imported from France and Italy and for sale at a California store.
Shoplifters could benefit from a new law that downgrades theft of property under $950 to a misdemeanor — meaning it’s only punishable by up to to six months in prison and a fine of up to $1,000.
In many cases, the thieves are not prosecuted and punished.
The California Senate also passed legislation in May prohibiting employees from confronting active shooters or shoplifters in California.
Proponents say it protects staff from violence, but stores and employees themselves say the measure will only encourage further shoplifting.
