Miracle reason man survived after falling more than 20 metres down a cliff face while exploring remote caves

A holidaymaker has been flown to hospital by helicopter after falling just over 20 meters from a cliff at a popular tourist destination in Queensland.

The man, in his 40s, fell from the cliff face at Paradise Caves, in Noosa National Park, while visiting the tourist attraction with his family on Saturday.

Emergency services were called and a rescue helicopter rushed to the scene of the accident on the Sunshine Coast.

Footage showed paramedics surrounding the man, who had managed to reach a safer position after luckily landing in water that had collected at the bottom of the cliff.

He was then airlifted out and taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

The man had injuries to his arm and chest, a Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) spokeswoman said.

“The patient’s wife witnessed the incident. Initially there was a period of loss of consciousness, but he quickly regained consciousness,” QAS senior operations supervisor James Mayfield told Channel Nine.

“He was able to move himself to a spot and sit there until help arrived.”
