Noel Gallagher has criticised acts who engage in ‘virtue signalling’ at Glastonbury, saying they are ‘waving flags’ instead of focusing on the music.

Although Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds did not perform at this year’s festival, singer-songwriter 57 was there.

Several acts disappointed Noel, with the rocker appearing to be particularly critical of Dua Lipa’s support for Palestine and Banksy’s protest against migrant boats.

Noel spent his time at Glastonbury with actor Matt Smith and enjoyed performances from Jungle and Kneecap.

Noel explained his feelings about his time at Worthy Farm and told The sun: ‘Don’t get me wrong, I f***ing love Glastonbury. I think it’s one of the most important things. It’s probably the best f***ing thing about Britain, apart from the Premier League.

‘It’s getting a bit woke now, this place, and a bit preachy and a bit virtuous. I don’t like it in music — little f***ing idiots waving flags and making political statements and bands coming on stage and saying, “Hey guys, isn’t war terrible, yeah? Let’s all boo war. F***k the Tories, man,” and all that.

Noel added: ‘I think if you’re 18 and you’re middle class you might have a problem with it. But what are all those kids on a pitch at Glastonbury going to do about it? Everyone knows what’s going on in the f***ing world, you’ve got a phone in your pocket telling you. What’s the point of virtue signalling?’

The former Oasis star also ran into old foe David Grohl.

Noel explained that they met within three feet of each other and that the Foo Fighters frontman was staying at the same hotel where he was staying.

He insisted he just wanted Dave to stop talking about Oasis, adding that Dave was friends with his child.

The two had a falling out when Dave, who previously played drums for Nirvana, compared Noel’s success to that of his younger brother Liam.

Also in attendance at Glasto was Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl, with whom Noel has been feuding since he disgustingly compared Noel's success to that of his younger brother Liam

Dave told QMRQ: “It’s over. If it was a game, it’s over. Liam’s selling out huge stadiums, number one hits, huge albums.

“All the kids want to be him. I loved Oasis, but nobody wants to be Noel, do they? I’m in a great band, but even I want to be Liam.”

According to The sunLiam’s son Gene, 22, – whose mother is Nicole Appleton – ignored Noel when they were both spotted at a VIP bar at Glastonbury, despite being just metres apart.

A source said: ‘Noel and Gene were seeing each other but kept their distance. It was quite sad to see since they are so closely related but there is still a lot of friction between Noel and Liam.’
