Noel Gallagher, 57, ‘set to undergo surgery for a knee replacement after being hit by arthritis’ – just months after his younger brother Liam had a hip operation for the same condition

Noel Gallagher will undergo knee surgery later this year after suffering from arthritis.

The 57-year-old former Oasis star is struggling with a joint problem, it was reported on Friday.

His estranged brother Liam, 51, with whom he made hits including Wonderwall and Don’t Look Back In Anger, also suffers from the condition.

Liam had to undergo major hip surgery in April and during his recovery he said he studied his old music videos.

Speak with The sun Speaking about Noel’s upcoming surgery, a source said: ‘Noel is not at all happy about the fact that he needs this knee operation.

“It’s a sign that he’s improving and he’s not very good at slacking unless there’s football on TV.”

‘Liam had to have hip surgery after struggling with it, and now Noel is going through the same thing.’

On a lighter note, the source said Noel expects his younger brother to laugh about needing surgery for the same condition as him.

The source added that Noel is confident he will get back on his feet.

Noel will continue to perform with his band The High Flying Birds in the summer, but he will take a break in August to go on holiday prior to the operation.

Noel admitted on his friend Matt Morgan’s podcast that he had the surgery.

He said, ‘I’ve got bad knees actually. I’m going to have an operation on my f***ing knee.’

Liam announced in April that he had undergone major hip surgery amid rumours of an Oasis reunion with his brother Noel, 55.

Last year, Liam announced he needed new hip joints due to arthritis caused by a long-term thyroid problem.

He wrote on social media: ‘Good morning Rastas, I had my hip surgery last week. [week] everything went well and RESPEK [respect] to all the doctors and nurses who cared for me, a big compliment to the A-team who got us home safe and sound,’

‘You know who you are and Florence guru, I love and adore you. Riverdance, here I come, LG x’.

A fan asked: ‘I hope the surgery didn’t affect your confidence!!’.

Only Liam quickly responded: ‘I’m having my physical therapist watch old videos of me walking so we don’t miss anything. The comeback is real.’

The famous brothers have been embroiled in a public feud since Oasis split during their final concert in Paris in 2009, following a backstage spat.

And last month, Liam was reportedly told he had to patch things up with his estranged brother Noel so their mother Peggy could celebrate her 80th birthday with her sons.

An insider told The sun: ‘There has been a sense of distance within the family in recent years, especially because Liam and Noel are at war with each other.

‘Peggy has told Liam that he needs to mend the rift and she hopes that there will be a real reconciliation.

‘Peggy was in a thoughtful mood and it would be the best birthday present if they finally took steps to settle their feud.’
