Nobody Wants This star Justine Lupe has set the record straight about her planned pregnancy after revealing she initially hid the news from her co-stars.
Last month, the Succession actress, 35, who is not known to be dating anyone and hasn’t gone public with a partner lately, shared on Instagram that the show “felt me with so much warmth.”
She also noted that the cast and crew were not immediately informed of her pregnancy and found out while on set.
On Instagram, Justine revealed on Monday why she did not immediately share the big news with her colleagues.
The actress posted a carousel of pregnancy photos while on the set of the new rom-com, writing, “I just wanted to clarify because my words (I’m sure with good intentions) have been chopped up and rearranged into a misleading story a few times now – I want to make it clear that the cast and crew knew I was pregnant as soon as it was safe to share.

Last month, the 35-year-old actress revealed on Instagram that the cast of Nobody Wants This “carried me through my first 5+ months of pregnancy with such warmth” (pictured on the set of the show with Kristen Bell)
‘As women who have carried a baby know, there is a greater risk of miscarriage in the first few months of pregnancy, so it is emotionally risky to share too early.
“I just want to make this clear because EVERYONE on this set made sure I was cozy and taken care of.”
Justine plays Morgan, sister of Bell’s Joanne, in Nobody Wants This.
The series, which premiered last month on Netflix, follows the unlikely love story between an agnostic sex podcaster (Kristen Bell) and a newly single rabbi (Adam Brody).
The show reportedly had 26.2 million viewers in its first eleven days, although Netflix is notoriously opaque about its ratings and how it calculates them.
Following its success, the show was renewed for a second season just two weeks after its release.
She went on to talk about her colleagues, including her on-screen sister, Kristen Bell.
‘[Kristen] ran around her living room wearing a sheet mask and screamed with joy when she found out and vowed to make this experience as soft, sweet and gentle as possible,” she recalled.
Justine also mentioned how the show’s creator, Erin Foster, who was also pregnant during the show’s production, gave her “a huge hug” when she heard the news.
‘[She] I took away any concerns I had to work around it,” the actress explained.
The star then thanked the series’ costume team and cinematographers for their help in dealing with her pregnancy on set.
“Every @Netflix executive on set came up and congratulated me,” she noted. ‘We had a set with FOUR pregnant women!’

After shedding light on her supporting cast and crew, she moved on to talk about industry expectations and standards.
The beautiful Mrs. Maisel alum added: ‘I say all this because there is a narrative that becoming a mother in this industry is something of a death sentence.
‘That your career is over. That there is no room for us as we transition into this AMAZING new chapter of our lives. This new version of ourselves.
‘And the story is not based on nothing, there is a long history of this being the case, but I do think things are changing!
“I’ve been lucky enough to see some of my closest friends doing crazy work, pregnant or as new moms, and it’s been huge.”
“It seems silly to respond to the headlines, but this set made me feel so safe creatively and interpersonally and I think it’s important for women to hear THIS story.”
