His family said that Legaspi had been in a relationship with his ex-girlfriend since spring 2022, and they had recently broken up
His family told the New York Post that Legaspi had been dating his ex-girlfriend since the spring of 2022, and they had recently broken up.
Photos from the evening show Legaspi smiling as he wrapped his arms around his date’s waist, as his family dubbed her his “mysterious girl.”
The junior would begin his senior year in September before plunging 800 feet to his death.
Legaspi had been at his ex-girlfriend’s house before calling a cab to the Mandarin Hotel in Columbus Circle.
Once he arrived, the teen, who was struggling with his mental health, facetimed his ex before jumping.
His brother, Luis Legaspi, told the newspaper New York Post“She got an eerie FaceTime call from him from the top of the hotel and looked over at her and they had a FaceTime call and he said ‘look at this beautiful view’ and ‘I love you.’
“They broke it off and he was just never good at handling his emotions, so after the breakup I think he just wasn’t able to control his thoughts and feelings.
Legaspi’s ex was shocked by the call and contacted his mother. He told her the call came from a tall building, but she wasn’t sure where.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether Legaspi planned his death, why he chose the hotel and whether the teenager has been there before
His mother has revealed his last words to her: “I love you” and “I’ll see you tomorrow,” telling the Post that she will always remember his smile.
Judith Legaspi, 52, said: ‘He came to my room because all my kids do before I go to bed.
“He comes by my room and says, ‘Hey mom, how was work today?’ I said, ‘I’m fine. I’m just resting’.
“Okay, goodnight, rest. I’ll see you tomorrow and I love you.” He gave me a kiss and a hug. And that was the last thing he said.
“There’s no evidence or anything like that, so I can’t really say anything about it.
“We can’t really see: why he did what he did. Maybe in my dreams he says, ‘Mommy, I’m sorry I did it, but it’s not your fault. It’s nobody’s fault.”
His family immediately launched a search for him, posting on social media that his last location was “somewhere with a lot of light.”
They confirmed he turned off his phone after talking to his ex-girlfriend, though it’s unclear why he traveled the 36 miles to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel.

His ex-girlfriend found out that Legaspi had died after a tribute was posted to him at a volleyball camp they both attended.
Legaspi’s older siblings went to her house to reassure her that his death was not her fault.
His brother Luis said she could always contact them, adding: ‘I don’t want her to get the impression that we’re upset and that we’re blaming her.
“Both me and my sister comforted her and said it wasn’t anyone’s fault. Do not feel guilty.
“That’s how we are and that’s how Noah is. He always tried to make someone’s day before he made his own, which is exactly the kind of character he has, because he cares about people and is thoughtful.’

Investigators believe he entered the Deutsche Bank Center via a service elevator and exited on the 21st floor of the hotel tower, the NYPD said.
“Video shows him walking into the hotel, then taking the elevator up, going to the roof and jumping off the roof,” NYPD spokesman Lieutenant Thomas Antonetti said.
His brother added that he had “a lot of demons and insecurities” and did not seek therapy or medication for his mental health issues – which eventually “took over and won.”
