No Man’s Sky dev reveals new game, touts a universe on one planet

Ten years after the revelation No one's heaven During a Geoff Keighley-hosted video game awards ceremony, Spike's VGX Awards, Hello Games revealed something new: Light Not Firean original fantasy game in which players will explore an Earth-sized planet in an experience that the studio says will combine the depth of a role-playing game with the freedom of a survival sandbox game.

Like the procedurally generated galaxy of No one's heaven, Light Not Fire's giant, explorable planet will be procedural. Hello Games claims that players will travel through a “truly open world, without borders (and) on a scale never attempted before.” And like No one's heavenHello Games' new adventure will be playable in multiplayer.

Light Not FireThe game's debut trailer, unveiled Thursday at The Game Awards, shows players exploring their planet on foot and on the backs of dragons. There are huge mountains to climb and floating islands to visit. Fantastic flora and fauna populate the world. Hello Games promises plenty of lore, mystery and a fight for survival on its lush, procedural planet. It will all be based on classic fantasy, developers say.

Says Sean Murray of Hello Games Light Not Fire has been developed over the past five years by a small team. It did not announce a release window or platforms.
