The life of the late rapper Nipsey Hussle will be chronicled in a docuseries produced by his company Marathon Films and LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s SpringHill studio, as a teaser was released Tuesday.
The teaser shows never-before-seen footage of the rap star – who was fatally shot outside his South Los Angeles clothing store in March 2019 – as he grew up in the Crenshaw neighborhood of Los Angeles amid a time of social unrest in the 1990s.
It will show how the rapper rose professionally with projects like his 2005 mixtape Slauson Boy, his record label All Money In, Marathon Agency and his Marathon Clothing store.

James said in a press release that “it is an incredible honor for SpringHill to play a part in sharing Nipsey’s story and legacy with the world,” acknowledging the late artist as someone who “used his gift to give back give to his community and lived what it was’. along the way means inspiring, empowering and uplifting others.
“His words, his ambition and his actions remain with me to this day, as he continues to inspire myself, our company and people around the world.”
The docuseries features interviews with people close to the later rapper, including Snoop Dogg and Sean “Diddy” Combs, his longtime partner Lauren London, and his brother, Samiel “Blacc Sam” Asghedom, who calls his late brother “a man of the people” in a press release.
“He often said his purpose in life was to inspire,” Asghedom said. Nipsey’s light shone all over the world. His life is proof that his purpose has been fulfilled.’
