Nintendo’s bringing its big fan event to the US for the first time

nintendo live comes to the United States for the first time, Nintendo announced Today. The annual fan festival takes place in Seattle in September. Nintendo has not specified a specific date.

Nintendo Live, which has taken place in Japan in recent years, is a multi-day event featuring music performances and other live performances. Nintendo Live usually lasts two days and takes place in a carnival-like area dotted with people dressed as popular Nintendo characters. You can also try out Switch games. The whole thing is basically Mariopalooza.

Nintendo Live also hosts tournaments for popular Nintendo games such as mario kart 8 And Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (the irony of which is not lost on, given Nintendo’s long history of shutting down fan tournaments for Super Smash Bros.).

This year’s Nintendo Live takes place in the second half of a boom year for Nintendo. The totally risk free Super Marios Bros. movie is already on its way to becoming and reeling in one of the biggest movies of the year nearly $400 million during its opening weekend at the worldwide box office. The Super Nintendo World theme park opened in Hollywood earlier this year. (It’s surprisingly faithful to source material.) Meanwhile, in terms of things Nintendo became famous for, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is about to become one of the biggest games of the year, if not the decade.
