Nintendo will air a new Nintendo Direct presentation on Tuesday, June 18, a showcase focused on Switch titles releasing in 2024, the company said in a press release on Monday.
The Nintendo Direct will last approximately 40 minutes and will begin at 10am EDT/7am PDT. The showcase will be streamed on Nintendo’s YouTube And Nervous twitching channels. Nintendo tempered expectations in its press release: “There will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during this presentation.”
Nintendo currently only has a few Switch games with confirmed release dates: Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD And Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition. Of course, the company may have some surprises in store. Nintendo still has that Metroid Prime 4 on the schedule, and it’s rumored that a handful of remakes and remasters of previous games will be released.
Confirmed that it won’t be making an appearance during June’s Nintendo Direct, the company’s next console is set to launch. In May, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa said: “We will be holding a Nintendo Direct in June about the Nintendo Switch software lineup for the second half of 2024, but please note that there will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch during that presentation -successor. .” The company reiterated that message in Monday’s press release: no console news.
The “Switch 2” will reportedly release sometime in early 2025, and it’s possible we won’t hear official details from Nintendo about that next-gen console until this fall or winter.
