Nine launch investigation after MAFS producers cast a groom for 2025 season following DV assault acquittal over an incident with a girlfriend who was found bloodied in their bathroom

Channel Nine has launched an investigation after a groom from Married At First Sight, which will appear in the 2025 season, appeared in court charged with serious domestic abuse.

In November 2021, Adrian Araouzou was acquitted by a New South Wales court of charges of assault occasioning bodily harm, domestic violence, common assault and resisting police after the judge had acquitted him.

He denies the serious allegations after producers launched an investigation into the way he was selected to take part in the popular dating show.

Endemol Shine, the producers of MAFS, have questioned the duty of care owed to the woman he works with on the series.

Ny Breaking Australia reports that Endemol and Nine have launched an internal investigation and found that Araouzou did nothing wrong.

According to The AustralianCourt documents show that police were called to the Sydney home Araouzou and his partner shared in June 2020 after a witness reportedly heard screaming.

Officers found a “hysterical and barely consolable” woman naked in the bathroom, with her “head in her hands and blood seeping through,” police said in a report.

“Due to the suspect’s actions, the police were forced to restrain him using weapons,” police said.

A few days later, the woman signed a statement to police claiming that the injuries were the result of an assault and not Araouzou attacking her.

A hospital report from that night said she was “not sure what happened but fears she was attacked by her partner.”

Police say the woman was “too scared” to talk at the time of the incident.

Araouzou was acquitted of all wrongdoing by the magistrate.

Araouzou said in a statement to The Australian on Tuesday: “Any suggestion of physical violence is categorically denied.”

“I had my day in court, I was found not guilty and the application for an AVO was dismissed. Any other accusation is completely without foundation and highly defamatory,” he said through a lawyer.
