Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley’s campaign announced Tuesday that the former U.N. ambassador had received the endorsement of TV icon judge Judy Sheindlin.

This marks Haley’s first celebrity endorsement of the cycle, after she received politically favorable endorsements, including from Republican New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu and the powerful Koch Network.

Haley is trying to position himself as the best option to take on former President Donald Trump, the distant frontrunner in the 2024 Republican primary.

“I am proud to support Nikki Haley because she is smart, has leadership credentials and was an excellent governor,” Judge Judy Sheindlin said in a statement. ‘She has international appeal as ambassador to the United Nations. She is principled, measured and has the illusion of real common sense.’

“I truly believe she can fix America and believe she is the future of this great nation,” Sheindlin added.

Haley also complimented the longtime TV judge.

“Judge Judy is a no-nonsense lady who has earned the respect of millions of Americans in her courtroom by being thoughtful, fair and honest,” Haley said in a statement. “I’m honored to have her support.”

Sheindlin’s Judge Judy ended in 2021 after 25 seasons.

The 81-year-old is now the chairman of Amazon Freevee’s Judy Justice TV show.

Sheindlin has dabbled in politics before.

During the 2020 primaries, she endorsed former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who briefly ran in the Democratic primaries.

She told CNN at the time that she was looking for someone who could “bring this broken American family back together.”

“When you can’t go to a dinner party with old friends or even with your family without open warfare and hostility toward politics. “I just got tired of the anger,” she said.

When Sheindlin was asked if she thought then-candidate Joe Biden could beat incumbent President Donald Trump, the TV judge was skeptical.

“Do you see greatness?” she asked CNN’s now-former anchor Chris Cuomo.

“Joe Biden is a very nice man, I’m sure, he wasn’t a great man for 40 years, he wasn’t great,” Sheindlin said. “So nothing has changed, except that he has gotten older.”

Sheindlin’s pick, Bloomberg, dropped out of the race after a disastrous performance during the Super Tuesday primaries.

The billionaire ex-mayor subsequently endorsed Biden and funneled millions into the Democrat’s campaign.
