Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley weighed in on Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s relationship after the latter began fueling far-right conspiracy theories online.
The pop star and Kansas City Chiefs football player’s very public romance has Swifties around the world cheering, but the MAGA world has unleashed a series of baseless theories online.
Conspiracy theorists say the upcoming Super Bowl between the Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers is “rigged” due to swirling rumors that President Biden’s reelection team is trying to secure Swift’s support for his 2024 reelection bid.
They say Swift and her rising popularity due to her shiny new relationship is a “Democratic ploy” to turn voters away from supporting Donald Trump — and a Chiefs win would be just enough, too.
“I don’t know what the obsession is,” Haley said in an interview with CNN about the MAGA world’s fixation on her relationship. ‘Taylor Swift can have a boyfriend. Taylor Swift is a good artist.”
“I’ve taken my daughter to Taylor Swift concerts before,” Haley continued. ‘It’s bizarre to have a conspiracy theory about all this. No one knows who will support them.”
The 2024 hopeful said she doesn’t believe in Taylor Swift’s conspiracy theories taking over “national politics” while there is an ongoing southern border crisis and many Americans are living paycheck to paycheck.
Nikki Haley called the conspiracy theories about Taylor Swift and the 2024 election “bizarre.”
Conspiracy theorists claim the Super Bowl is rigged and Taylor Swift will endorse Biden amid wave of reporting on Swift’s relationship with Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce
“The last thing I think we should really worry about is who Taylor Swift is dating and what conspiracy theory will lead her to support someone for president,” Haley continued.
The former South Carolina governor, who remains the final opponent in the Republican Party’s primary against former President Trump, later posted on X: “Why are we talking about conspiracy theories about Taylor Swift’s boyfriend when the world is on fire ? Make America normal again.”
A new poll from Redfield & Wilton Strategies also found that 18 percent of voters said they were “more likely” or “significantly more likely” to vote for a candidate endorsed by Swift.
The theories have been fueled online by conspiracy theorists like Jack Posobiec and Fox News host Jesse Watters, who have suggested that Travis Kelce is an asset to the Pentagon.
Conservative influencer Benny Johnson said Americans are “being played” with the avalanche of coverage of Swift novels designed to help Biden.
This week, former GOP presidential candidate and Trump supporter Vivek Ramaswamy also leaned in and posted on X: “I wonder if there will be a big presidential endorsement this fall from an artificial culturally supported bunch.”
Trump typically does not shy away from going on the attack against those he sees as a threat to his candidacy, but the former president has remained publicly silent about the pop star recently.
The Trump campaign has publicly rejected the size of a Swift recommendation, arguing that it will not save Biden.
However, Rolling Stone reported this week that Trump’s allies are promising a “holy war” against the superstar.

The New York Times reported that a Swift is the Biden campaign’s biggest celebrity target
The White House bypassed Swift’s coveted endorsement earlier this week.
Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said she could not say anything about 2024 because of the Hatch Act, which limits the political activities of federal employees.

While Swift has not yet spoken out on 2024, she supported the president in 2020 and has spoken out in other political races in the past with mixed results. And when she calls for action among her followers, they listen.
In an Instagram post around National Voter Registration Day last September, Swift encouraged her more than 279 million followers to register to vote and use their votes in last year’s election.
The organization Vote.org said there was a 1,226 percent increase in participation immediately after Swift’s post. It was the organization’s most successful registration effort since 2020. More than 35,000 people registered.
