Britain’s largest nightclub group wants to quadruple its number of venues to 200.
Rekom UK, with brands such as Pryzm and Fiction, already has 51 clubs and bars.
It aims to meet the new target by 2028 and is looking to establish offices in major cities such as Manchester and Liverpool.
‘Affordable Treat’: Demand is strong on Saturday nights despite the cost of living crisis
Demand is high on Saturday night despite the cost-of-living crisis, CEO Peter Marks told The Mail on Sunday. But weeknights are getting more subdued.
“What we’re seeing right now is more movement towards the weekend and people getting very swayed by big events like Halloween, New Years and birthdays,” Marks said. “Mondays through Thursdays were never a big part of the trade, they’ve definitely dropped back a bit. Friday is stronger and then Saturday is okay.’
The company says its key customers – young people and students – are less likely to be affected by rising household prices and view clubbing as an “affordable treat”.
Nightlife venues are still reeling from months of closures during the pandemic.
Marks said he would like to open the first central London location in Rekom. However, he is focusing his efforts on regional cities where he can have several bars and clubs in ‘clusters’, which he has done in Cardiff. “We don’t have anything in Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle or Glasgow, so these are clearly targets for us,” he said.
