On Friday, the talented star – who has had a history of puzzling political shots – broke her silence as she took to her Instagram Story to address the controversy.
She wrote: ‘I apologize for any pain caused by my recent involvement in a number of social media posts.
‘When I responded to these messages, I made the mistake of not realizing that they could easily be interpreted as politically related, and I apologize to anyone who understandably came to that conclusion.’
The star went on to explain that while the general public has jumped to conclusions about what she meant by the comment, it doesn’t really reflect what she believes it to be, nor who she voted for.
She explained, “Many of the marginalized communities who feel hurt and concerned by the outcome of the presidential election are people I care about most. I stand behind them, as I always have, my entire life and career.
“If you know me, you know that.”
Nicole continued by saying that the comment about the “Make Jesus First Again” hat — a variation on the red Make America Great Again cap made famous by the Trump campaign — was merely a reflection of her faith and the way where she turned to faith. it in her time of need.

She explained, “Like so many others, I turn to my faith in times of adversity and uncertainty. I believed the messages I was working on were about encouraging people to choose love and faith – “Putting Jesus First.” To me, Christ embodies peace, compassion, hope and – above all – unconditional love, especially for those who may feel it least at the moment.
