Nicole Kidman’s kids she shares with Tom Cruise appear to skip actress’ AFI Life Achievement Award despite hopes they would support her – after daughter Bella ‘liked’ her mum’s post about honour

Nicole Kidman’s hopes that her adopted children, son Connor, 29, and daughter Bella, 31, would attend the Life Achievement Award ceremony in Los Angeles were dashed this weekend.

Bella and Connor are the only children Nicole shares with her ex-husband Tom Cruise, with the couple adopting their daughter in 1992 and their son in 1995.

The Hollywood couple married in 1990 and divorced in 2001. Tom now shares another daughter, Suri Cruise, 17, with ex-wife Katie Holmes, and Nicole had two children, Sunday Rose, 15, and Faith Margaret, 13, with her second husband Keith Urban.

Nicole, 55, was reportedly keen for Connor and Bella to be present as she became the first Australian to receive America’s highest honor for a film career.

But despite hoping all four of her children would be together for the big party, neither Connor nor Bella showed their faces at the event hosted by the American Film Institute (AFI).

It’s unclear where Connor and Bella spent their Saturday night, as the siblings are notoriously private on social media, but neither was pictured at the event that saw their famous mother make movie history.

Ny Breaking Australia has contacted Nicole’s representatives for comment.

Last year it was reported that Nicole hoped all her children would be present – Connor, Bella and her two daughters Sunday and Faith – when she received the Life Achievement Award.

“Nicole knows that Connor is extremely loyal to his father, so she doesn’t expect him to come, but the invitation is there for both of them,” a supposed source shared. New idea in June.

‘It is an event that they can celebrate together with the rest of Nicole’s family. Nicole tries to limit her expectations, but clings to the hope that Bella will make it.’

Tom and Connor have occasionally been spotted attending sporting events together, while Nicole has previously said she prefers to keep her relationship with her children private.

Little is known about Nicole’s current relationship with Bella and Connor, as they reportedly remained “loyal to their father” following her divorce from the Top Gun star in 2001 – meaning they were raised in the controversial Church of Scientology.

Nicole has refused to talk about religion or her family ties over the past year, but is said to have been absent from many of her children’s life events, including Bella’s wedding at London’s Dorchester hotel in 2015, despite living in the city at the time.

The Big Little Lies star hasn’t been publicly pictured with her eldest two children since 2007, and she was reportedly “devastated” after the couple failed to attend her father’s funeral in 2014.

The actress rarely speaks about the couple, saying she wants to keep the relationship private, but has spoken about how they “chose Scientology” and “don’t call her a mother.”

Despite Bella and Connor not attending the Moulin Rouge actor’s big night this weekend, the event wasn’t a total failure as she was supported by husband Keith and their daughters Sunday and Faith.

She was also accompanied by her sister Antonia, brother-in-law Craig Marran and her niece Sybella Hawley.

Faith and Sunday glowed with childlike pride as they stood next to their mother, who was dressed in a glittering gold Balenciaga dress for the event in Los Angeles.

Husband Keith paid a touching tribute to his wife, sharing a photo from her on Instagram with the caption, “In a career still in full flight, tonight the @americanfilminstitute will honor my wife as the newest member of this extraordinary brotherhood.
