Nicole Kidman’s adopted children Bella and Connor’s heartfelt note to their mother after the death of her mum Janelle following months of being estranged – as speculation grows whether they’ll attend the funeral
Nicole Kidman’s adopted children, son Connor and daughter Bella, are supporting the actress after the death of her beloved mother Janelle.
Bella, 31, and Connor, 29, are said to have written a heartwarming letter to Nicole after she revealed her beloved mother had died at the age of 84 – just hours before she was awarded Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival for her role in Babygirl.
According to Women’s DayThe actress is happy to hear from her children and would love to have them ‘back in her life’.
“The most heartwarming thing is that Nicole received a joint message from Bella and Connor, who she hasn’t heard from in a long time,” a source said.
“It’s a little sad that they’ve come back into her life at such a tragic time, but she knows it would make her mother very happy if her passing brought her estranged grandchildren back into the family.”
The source also said that Nicole is willing to take a break from her career for a while to give her relationship with her children “the best chance.”
Bella and Connor are the only children Nicole has with her ex-husband Tom Cruise. The couple adopted their daughter in 1992 and their son in 1995.
The Hollywood couple married in 1990 and divorced in 2001. Tom now has a daughter, Suri Cruise, 17, with his ex-wife Katie Holmes, and Nicole has two children, Sunday Rose, 15, and Faith Margaret, 13, with her second husband Keith Urban.

Little is known about Nicole’s current relationship with Bella and Connor. They reportedly remained “loyal to their father” after she split from the Top Gun star in 2001. That means they were raised in the controversial Church of Scientology.
Nicole has refused to discuss her religion or her family ties in recent years, but is said to have been absent from many events in her children’s lives, including Bella’s wedding at London’s Dorchester hotel in 2015, despite living in the city at the time.
The Big Little Lies star hasn’t been photographed in public with her two eldest children since 2007. She was reportedly “devastated” when the couple didn’t attend her father’s funeral in 2014.
In 2018, when accepting her Golden Globe for Best Actress, the Nine Perfect Strangers star thanked her biological daughters and second husband Keith Urban — but she didn’t mention Connor or Bella.
The actress rarely speaks about the couple and says she wants to keep the relationship private, but she has said they “chose Scientology” and that they “don’t mention her mother.”
Connor and Bella also missed Nicole’s Life Achievement Award ceremony in Los Angeles in April.

“I am in shock and have to go to my family, but this award is for her. She shaped me, guided me and made me.”
“I am beyond grateful to be able to say her name to all of you through Halina, the collision of life and art is heartbreaking, and my heart is broken. We love you all.”

Nicole has long had a particularly close bond with her beloved mother Janelle and has often spoken about her support and influence on her career over the years.
Nicole was born in Honolulu and raised in Sydney with Janelle and her psychologist father Antony, who passed away in September 2014.
After living in the United States for a time, the Moulin Rouge star and her younger sister Antonia spent much of their childhood in Sydney.
Nicole pursued her passion for acting as a teenager and was supported by her parents as she rose to worldwide fame.
They both remained closely involved in her career over the years, with Nicole recently admitting that she still sought advice from her mother.
In November, the Big Little Lies star shared how she often asks her mother Janelle for advice on her outfits, despite working with a slew of professional stylists.
In a sign of their close bond, Nicole told People, “My mom is still — she’s so involved in what I wear.”

Nicole also had a close bond with her father Antony and was devastated when he died of a heart attack in September 2014 at the age of 75.
The Oscar-winning actress previously admitted that the “sudden” death of her father, and a series of other losses, had affected her deeply.
“I’ve had death come to me very suddenly. I haven’t helped anyone through a slow death, I’ve just had people taken away,” she told the Sydney Morning Herald in 2020.
‘I’ve been through it before, I’m almost scared to say it because I’m terrified it will happen again. I’m still very scared of it.’
