Nicole Kidman has revealed she didn’t want daughter Sunday Rose, 16, to take part in the Miu Miu fashion show initially – weeks after the teenager faced heavy criticism for her participation in the event.

Sunday, who Nicole shares with husband Keith Urban, opened the Miu Miu Paris Womenswear Spring-Summer 2025 show during Paris Fashion Week in October.

But her catwalk debut was trashed by harsh social media users who criticized her afterwards.

Now her famous mother, 57, has spoken out about her daughter’s controversial appearance, admitting she initially advised against it.

During a recent conversation with Hollywood reporterthe actress was asked ‘what it was like as a mother’ to be seen walking in her first fashion show on Sunday.

She explained that when Sunday approached her about the opportunity, her first reaction was, “Oh no, I don’t think so.”

But designer Miuccia Prada was adamant about having the teen in her show, so Nicole agreed.

“That’s all driven by her. I said, “Oh no, I don’t think so,” the Babygirl actor explained.

“But Miuccia just loved her and said, ‘No, I want her.’ And Miuccia is so powerful as a woman. So that was a good match.’

Nicole added that she had known Miuccia since she was 23 years old, so she trusted her expertise.

Sunday strutted down the catwalk in a white sleeveless dress with ribbon embellishment from the Italian haute couture label, which she paired with gray leg warmers and black peep-toe heels.

But people were quick to condemn her online, with one person suggesting she take catwalk lessons, and another complaining that too many nepo babies think they can model.

“Try painting or acting instead.” This isn’t for her,” one TikTok user suggested, while another commenter agreed: “Oh, why would you please become a model? There are so many other things to do.”

“I hear the heels hitting the ground,” someone else criticized.

‘Stop hiring average looking nepo babies who can’t walk! We need hungry unknown girls from developing countries who are naturally BEAUTIFUL,” said another fashion fan.

Someone else said: ‘This is unfair to girls who don’t have famous parents. This girl is not a model.’

Afterwards, Sunday’s father Keith spoke about her modeling debut People magazineand he said that while he was “very proud” of his daughter, he wanted to make sure she didn’t fall behind in her schoolwork during her new career.

“Hopefully we can help her keep her balance through all of this,” he said.

“Hopefully she benefits from having two parents who are aware of a certain amount of celebrity.”

Keith added: “It’s all a challenge. I mean, raising kids is a challenge, period. It’s about trying to maintain a balance. It’s all a process, but I think balance is the key.

“Holding her on tight with schoolwork and structure and balancing everything in its place is key.”
