Nicole Kidman crashes Ewan McGregor’s red carpet interview at the 2025 Golden Globes as Moulin Rouge co-stars reunite at awards show

Moulin Rouge co-stars Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor had a mini-reunion at the 2025 Golden Globes on Sunday night.

The Australian actress, 57, crashed the Scottish actor, 53, and his wife Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s red carpet interview with Entertainment Tonight.

Red carpet reporter Rachel Smith had just asked McGregor what it was like to have his real-life husband play his on-screen love interest in the Golden Globe-winning TV miniseries A Gentleman in Moscow.

He stuttered and became distracted when Kidman snuck up behind him as the question was being asked.

‘Hello!’ McGregor exclaimed.

“I had to jump in the middle!” Kidman announced as she slid between the couple and held one of Winstead’s hands as she paused to kiss McGregor on both cheeks.

In unfortunate timing for McGregor’s wife, attention quickly shifted to Kidman – who was impossible to miss in a figure-hugging, glittering one-shoulder dress from Balenciaga.

“We’re having a Moulin Rouge reunion!” the star-struck reporter exclaimed excitedly.

McGregor and Kidman appeared in 2001 as star-crossed lovers in Baz Luhrmann’s stirring jukebox musical.

They were both honored with Golden Globe nominations for their performances as the ill-fated courtesan Satine and her lover, the Scottish poet Christian, respectively.

Kidman took home the gold – her second after 1996’s To Die For, while McGregor lost to Gene Hackman in The Royal Tenenbaums.

‘And actually also Babygirl, because his daughter plays my daughter in Babygirl. It’s all too weird and too small a world,” Kidman responded to the reunion comments.

Winstead nodded politely as Kidman spoke and straightened her dress.

In Babygirl, McGregor’s real-life daughter Esther plays Kidman’s daughter, Isabel.

“I’m really proud of Esther,” he said. “There are a few moments where I had my eyes wide open and thought, ‘She’s really got it.’

McGregor confirmed it was ‘great to see you Nicole’ as the Oscar winner said ‘love you’ to the couple and walked back to the red carpet.

In her own red carpet interview, Kidman joked that she is “totally vintage,” as she described her “vintage” sapphire earrings, an Omega “vintage” watch… and apparently herself.

“Yeah, I’m totally vintage,” Kidman told Entertainment Tonight reporter Marc Malkin with a chuckle.

“Do you remember the first time you were at the Golden Globes?” he asked her.

‘I was nominated for Billy Bathgate.’

The reporter informed the star that it had been 33 years.

“You’re not allowed to say those numbers, come on,” she warned gently.

“I couldn’t believe all the stars that were there. I was like, “I’m a girl from Australia, what am I doing here?” I felt like a fish out of water.’

Malkin asked Kidman if she wanted her daughters Sunday and Faith to “go into the business?” in what became a very awkward interview moment.

“Who knows,” she said shyly.

“My beautiful, precious baby. [Sunday] is doing a bit of modeling now, and she’s very calm and a very sweet girl.’

Although the Australian star didn’t take home the Best Actress award for her erotic psychological thriller, her red carpet look was hailed as her ‘best ever’.

Kidman stunned in a glittering backless dress that revealed a hint of tasteful side boob and her extremely toned back as she worked her angles outside the Beverly Hilton.

She completed her retro look with a sixties-style bouffant hairdo, wearing her strawberry locks in a high ponytail.
