Nicole Kidman confirms she and Reese Witherspoon are talking about Big Little Lies season three while adding daughter, 15, convinced her to return to the saga

Nicole Kidman said she and Reese Witherspoon are in contact about a third season of their series Big Little Lies.

Based on a novel by Liane Moriarty, the HBO show was initially intended as a one-season miniseries, but it was such a hit with fans and critics that a second season was added, and now it’s back for another season in the making.

Reese and Nicole both starred in and produced the series, which follows the intrigue and scandals simmering beneath the gilded lives of a group of suburban mothers in Tony Monterey, California.

In a new interview with ElleNicole revealed that she has spoken with her co-stars to develop a timetable for season three’s filming.

The 56-year-old movie star also revealed that it was her 15-year-old daughter Sunday who convinced her to bring the show back after season two.

She also has two adult children – Isabella ‘Bella’, 31, and Connor, 29 – whom she adopted with her first husband Tom Cruise.

Sunday, Nicole said, “is the one who watched both series and said, ‘Okay, there’s no doubt about it, there has to be a third one.’

The teen had a balanced view of one of season two’s key storylines: the tempestuous relationship between Nicole’s character Celeste and her mother-in-law Mary Louise, played by Meryl Streep.

Nicole recalled, “She said, ‘Celeste, she can’t handle the second one, what is she doing? I could kind of understand Mary Louise’s point of view.”

During the course of the interview, Nicole also explained why she and Reese waited so long to bring the show back, considering season two already aired in 2019.

“There’s the richness of the storylines, which we always discussed,” the To Die For actress shared, “but it took time because there’s really incredible depth to the next chapter of these women’s lives and their children’s lives – because children grow up. , and that’s quite fascinating.’

One of the other positives of this particular project for Nicole is the fact that she and her co-stars have become real friends.

Based on a novel by Liane Moriarty, the HBO show was initially intended as a miniseries; Reese and Nicole are depicted in the original season with Shailene Woodley

The program featured a top cast including Laura Dern, Alexander Skarsgard, Shailene Woodley, Zoe Kravitz and Adam Scott.

Because the cast has a personal connection with each other, Nicole has had an easier time aligning everyone’s schedules for a third season.

“I think if you’re all spread out and never cross paths, it’s very, very different,” reasoned the Moulin Rouge! star.

‘But if you are all still very much intertwined, that makes it feasible, because the willingness is there and you want to spend time together.’

Nicole confirmed plans for a third season of Big Little Lies in November while appearing on stage at the CME Group Tour Championship Friday in Florida.

“I loved Big Little Lies because it came about at a time in my life when I had my kids and I thought I was going to retire, and then this situation happened where Reese Witherspoon and I were able to produce that show. ,’ she said.

“And then you all watched it and made it a huge success,” she told the audience, adding, “We’re bringing you a third one, just for your information.”
