Nicole Kidman gave her teenage daughter some tough advice after she was branded a ‘fake baby’ and thrashed before her catwalk debut.
Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban, 16, opened the Miu Miu Paris Womenswear Spring-Summer 2025 show during Paris Fashion Week, walking the catwalk in a white sleeveless dress alongside A-listers Hilary Swank and Cara Delevingne.
But she faced a barrage of hateful comments suggesting she would find a new career as people focused on her being the daughter of Kidman, 57, and country singer Keith Urban, 56.
Kidman, who shot to fame in her late teens, is angry about the abuse hurled at her daughter, who she has warned to avoid social media.
“Nicole was the same age as Sunday when she got her first acting role and was told to try something different,” an insider told DailyMail.com.

16-year-old Sunday Rose faced a barrage of hateful comments suggesting she would find a new career after opening the Miu Miu Paris Womenswear Spring-Summer 2025 show.
‘Nicole had to deal with ‘no’ without having famous parents to help her through the door, so she understands the criticism, but it also upsets her because she is reminded of the hell she went through when she started.
“In the end, Nicole and Keith are so proud of her and let her go her own way.”
They continued: ‘Her advice to her daughter was the same advice she gives herself – don’t read social media. She will support her in whatever path she chooses.”
Sunday Rose’s ‘stomping’ on the catwalk went viral on TikTok, with commentators criticizing her style.
“I can hear the heels hitting the ground,” one user criticized, while another wrote, “She’s trying so hard to look fierce but looks like a petulant child stomping their feet.”
A third added: “Looks like she’s walking to her WWE match.”
Others suggested she forget about modeling and build a new career.
“Try painting or acting instead.” This isn’t for her,” one suggested, while another pleaded: “Oh please, why would you want to be a model and do so many other things.”
‘[Nicole’s] The advice to her daughter was the same advice she gives herself: don’t read social media,” an insider told DailyMail.com. “She will support her in whatever path she chooses.”
Kidman, 57, can no doubt relate to the backlash against her daughter, who was told she was ‘too tall’ as a 17-year-old when she tried to break into Hollywood (pictured in 1983)
Unsurprisingly, her famous parents became involved in the criticism, with many claiming her inclusion on the catwalk was unfair to those who were not given the same opportunity.
One wrote: ‘Stop hiring average looking nepo babies who can’t walk!’
A second said: ‘This is unfair to girls who don’t have famous parents. This girl is not a model.’
Sunday-Rose wasn’t the only nepo baby on the catwalk.
Model Amelia Gray Hamlin, the daughter of Harry Hamlin and Lisa Rinna, and Eliot Sumner, whose parents are Sting and Trudy Styler, have also modeled.
Kidman, 57, did not attend her daughter’s milestone moment, but did join her at a post-runway Miu Miu dinner.
She also shared a photo of the aspiring model on her Instagram with heart emojis.
Sunday Rose has been waiting for the chance to walk the catwalk for a long time.
Speaking to Vogue ahead of the event on October 1, she said: ‘I’ve wanted to do this for so long, so when the offer came in it was really exciting. And now the day has finally arrived.’
She said she was “stressed out” but claimed everyone behind the scenes was “really nice.”
Kidman undoubtedly recognizes the resistance against her daughter, who as a 17-year-old was told she was “too tall” when she tried to break into Hollywood.
Urban said he was “very proud” of their eldest daughter when he defended her during an interview with People magazine.

Kidman, 57, previously told how she tries to limit her daughters Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, 13, from using social media in a bid to protect their self-esteem
“Hopefully we can help her keep her balance through all of this,” the Australian singer said. ‘Hopefully she benefits from having two parents who are aware of a certain amount of celebrity.
“It’s all a challenge…Her sticking to her schoolwork and structure and balancing everything in its place is critical.”
Kidman and Urban, who have been married since 2006, also share daughter Faith Margaret, 13, who they welcomed via a surrogate.
The Perfect Couple actress previously opened up about how she tries to prevent their children from using social media in a bid to protect their self-esteem.
“I don’t let them be on Instagram,” she told Loose Women in 2020. ‘I now have a twelve-year-old who is chewing and wants to get into all that. It’s just that constant push, pull. I would say many parents would say the same thing.
“I think it keeps their self-confidence and self-esteem intact.”
Kidman also has adopted children Isabella, 27, and Connor, 25, with ex-husband Tom Cruise.
