Nicole Brown’s sisters break their silence ahead of explosive new documentary to mark 30 years since brutal murder – after OJ Simpson’s shock death
Nicole Brown Simpson’s sisters have broken their silence nearly thirty years after her murder for a new Lifetime documentary.
The Life & Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson, premiering June 1, explores the life and gruesome 1994 murder of the mother of two, known for her turbulent relationship with OJ Simpson, who was controversially acquitted of her murder.
Her sisters Tanya, 54, Dominique, 59, and Denise, 66, spoke to PEOPLE to talk about why they decided to speak out, thirty years after the world first became captivated by the case.
“We decided that 30 years was probably the best and last time we could hear her voice and tell her story,” Denise said.
Tanya added: “She’s not a corpse covered in a white sheet at the bottom of the stairs. That’s not Nicole.

“We want people to see this beautiful human being.”
Although Simpson was acquitted of the murders of Brown Simpson and her boyfriend Ron Goldman, he was found liable in a civil wrongful death lawsuit brought by the Brown and Goldman families in 1997.
Denise highlighted the fact that her sister’s murder led to change by inspiring The Violence Against Women Act.
‘She is the root behind a lot of change. Unfortunately, it took my sister’s life to make this happen,” Denise told the magazine.
When asked how they would remember Brown Simpson, who was 35 when she died, Tanya said: “Dancing in heaven. That’s what she does.’
The documentary shows how Brown Simpson was abused by her husband for years before she was murdered.

Simpson died of cancer in Las Vegas in April at the age of 76.
Tanya previously spoke to the British magazine about her older sister’s tumultuous relationship with the fallen football star.
The author and motivational speaker opened up about the gruesome murders and said that while she had forgiven the footballer, she would never forget it.
She said: ‘OJ was like a brother to me, but I know he did it. Over time I forgave him because I think it’s the only way to move forward, but I’ll never forget it.”

During Simpson’s controversial 1995 murder trial – often called the trial of the century – police claimed they found a blood-soaked sock near the bed in the home of his murdered ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson.
DNA analysis indicated that some of that blood came from OJ, with the former football star allegedly placed at the scene of the crime.
Tanya added that she had been trying to put the tragic murder behind her and was more focused on her older sibling’s legacy.

It was previously reported that Simpson had been battling prostate cancer and undergoing chemotherapy
OJ and Nicole married in 1985 and welcomed daughter Sydney Brooke, now 39, that year and son Justin, 36, in 1988.
In 1989, the former football player pleaded no contest to a domestic violence charge against Simpson. The couple divorced in 1992.
The children were just eight and five when their mother was killed and were sleeping in the house when their mother was stabbed to death on June 12, 1994, along with Goldman, who was 25.
