Nicolas Cage’s son Weston pleads not guilty to assaulting mom Christina Fulton during ‘mental health crisis’ – as he claims she ‘needs help’ in incendiary remarks
Nicolas Cage’s son Weston has pleaded not guilty to assaulting his mother Christina Fulton during an alleged mental health crisis.
Weston, 33, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly attacking his mother in April.
Christina was present at the hearing – and told TMZ that she ‘hopes’ [Weston] gets the help he needs.’
Weston, in turn, responded, “She needs help” about his mother as he left the courthouse in downtown LA.
The judge has issued a restraining order against Christina, preventing Weston from approaching her during the case.

Earlier this month Christina broke her silence on the alleged attack.
The fight between Weston and Fulton took place on April 28 in the Los Angeles area, where a verbal dispute turned into a physical confrontation.
“On April 28, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., I received urgent messages from friends of my son, Weston Cage, regarding his deteriorating mental condition, urging me to come and help,” Fulton said in a statement obtained by People.
“When I arrived to support and comfort him, he was already in the midst of a manic rage. Within minutes, I was brutally attacked and seriously injured,” she alleged.
“Despite my desperate pleas to the responding officers to hold him for a mental health evaluation, the officers denied my request.”
Fulton added in her statement: “As a mother, I am deeply saddened and concerned about Weston’s ongoing mental health crisis.
“It is vital that he gets the help he so desperately needs,” she concluded.
Christina attended the hearing — and told TMZ she “hopes he gets the help he needs.” In turn, Weston responded, “She needs help” about his mother as he left the courtroom in downtown LA.

Weston was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the alleged attack on his mother. He was released around 10 a.m. on $15,000 bail.
The LAPD confirmed that Weston was arrested on Wednesday for assault with a deadly weapon, just weeks after his mother was spotted with severe bruising to her face.
The LAPD also confirmed to People that the arrest was directly related to the alleged April 28 altercation.
Police told People: “During the incident, Cage struck two victims multiple times, causing injuries. LAPD responded to the scene and after meeting with all parties, a police report was filed.”
According to People, Weston turned himself in and was arrested at the 77th Division police station in Los Angeles.
Weston’s case was filed with the district attorney’s office on May 10, and on June 26, the district attorney filed two counts of assault with a deadly weapon against him. An arrest warrant was later issued.
The actor was released around 10 a.m. on $150,000 bail. The American Sun reported that his father was the one who paid bail for him.
A source previously told The Sun of the arrest: “The family knew this was going to happen but it’s obviously a big shock,” a source close to the family told the newspaper.
An ambulance was reportedly called to the home to examine Fulton, but she refused to be taken to the hospital. TMZ that were reported at the time of the alleged incident.
According to investigators, Weston was gone by the time police arrived on the scene. Police were still determining whether the case would be considered assault.
Sources told TMZ at the time that Fulton was trying to comfort her son, who was struggling with emotional issues.
Sources told the site that she denied claims that the two had had a fight and asked for privacy in the matter.
The Snake Eyes actress was spotted throwing coins into a parking meter in April, while sporting a black eye and fading bruises on her face.
There she met an unknown friend, with whom she hugged.
The actress released a statement in May about the interaction with her son, saying, “Weston and I had no argument prior to the incident.
‘On Sunday, April 28, I was asked for help by several of Weston’s closest friends because Weston was in a mental health crisis.’
‘When I arrived I was met by my son who was clearly in a state of mental breakdown, which in turn became a horrible experience’
“I have always supported my son with mental health issues. I do everything I can to give him the continued support he needs,” Fulton added.
It’s not the first time the National Treasure actor’s son has been in trouble with the law. In 2017, he was arrested for drunk driving and a hit-and-run.
According to police, he hit several parked cars, signs and mailboxes before crashing his car into a tree.
After being taken to the hospital, he was charged with driving under the influence and was arrested on $30,000 bail.
In 2011, he faced domestic violence charges after a disagreement with his ex-wife Nikki Williams, according to ABC news.
Weston has been treated for mental health issues in the past.
In 2011, he was admitted to a psychiatric hospital after an assault incident in Los Angeles.
Fulton blamed the Oscar winner for her son’s mental health issues at the time, saying: “Nicolas Cage damaged her, interfered and did something absolutely horrible, and I just have to go get my son,” she told Inside Edition.
“I’m the one who raised Weston. I’m the one who took care of Weston. His father was very busy with his work as an actor,” she said.
Fulton and Cage, 60, began dating in 1988, and Weston was born in 1990. The couple never married and split within a year of Weston’s birth.
Last November, Weston and Fulton, who launched a successful skin care line, filed a lawsuit against Weston’s ex-wife Hila Arounian, accusing her of embezzling $100,000, conducting a smear campaign against them and filing a “fraudulent restraining order” that prevented Fulton and her family from seeing their twin daughters, Venice and Cyress.

Court documents obtained by Page Six state: “This type of character assassination is part of a disturbing pattern of behavior in which Ms. Arounian makes false, malicious accusations against people as a means of coercion and manipulation.”
Fulton also alleges that her former daughter-in-law manipulated Weston into filing a restraining order against her in 2020.
At the time of the report, Nicolas and Fulton had not yet met their twin granddaughters, who will be four in July.
“It’s devastating not to see these children. Nicolas and I haven’t been able to meet our two beautiful granddaughters at all since they were born. We’re living a silent, horrible nightmare. It’s crazy, painful, hurtful, devastating.”
Weston has two older sons, Lucian, nine, and Sorin, seven, with his ex-wife Danielle, whom he was married to from 2013 to 2016.
