Former Coronation Street star Nicola Thorp and her fiancé Nikesh Patel are expecting their first child together.

Actress Nicola, 34, and her actor partner Nikesh announced their happy news on social media on Friday.

Nikesh simply wrote: ‘Some news’, while Nicola shared his post.

The couple was soon congratulated by their loved ones and followers.

Nicola’s former Coronation Street co-star Catherine Tyldesley said: ‘Congratulations! X.’

While fellow former Corrie cast member Katie McGlynn wrote: ‘Congratulations love.’

Broadcaster Bobby Seagull posted: ‘Oh wow, many congratulations!!!’

Nicola announced her engagement to fiancé Nikesh in January this year.

Nicola, who played Nicola Rubinstein in Corrie until 2018 and again briefly in 2019, took to Instagram at the time to share a photo of herself showing off her ring while cozying up to Nikesh.

She could be seen wearing a red dress as she stood in a room full of balloons as she held up her finger to show off her gold ring with a teardrop green emerald stone and glittering diamonds.

The couple jokingly posed with their mouths wide open as if in shock, while Nikesh looked dapper in a white shirt and black bow tie.

Nikesh is known for appearing in a number of television shows including Indian Summers, Starstruck and the miniseries Four Weddings and a Funeral.

Nicola announced she was dating Hollywood actor Nikesh in October 2021 with a loved-up photo to mark her birthday.

It comes after it emerged Nicola will relive her horrific ordeal at the hands of a stalker in court before his final sentencing in December.

Ravinderjit Dhillon, 30, dubbed himself the ‘Grim Reaper’ as he used 25 different identities to attack Nicola and made sickening threats to strangle and rape her.

At a hearing on Wednesday morning it was confirmed that Dhillon, of Feltham, Middlesex, will return for sentence at Snaresbrook Crown Court on December 5 after Judge Rosa Dean ordered a psychiatric report.

It was also confirmed that Nicola will read her victim impact statement in full to the court before Judge Dean passes sentence.

Dhillon started his twisted campaign when he sent the 34-year-old an intimate photo of himself in October 2018.

Blackpool-born Nicola handed over an 89-page document to the Met Police detailing the harassment she suffered at Dhillon’s hands.

She said: “I have spent most of my adult life fighting for women’s rights and going public has come at a number of personal costs.

‘I became the target of the very behavior I opposed.

‘Dhillon became an army of men, all wanting to harm me, threatening to rape and strangle me.’
