Australian Open boss Craig Tiley promised Nick Kyrgios would be at the tournament 'in some form' and that promise has come true after the tennis star was confirmed as a pundit for the tournament.
Kyrgios, 28, will not play at the first Grand Slam of the year after announcing he has not yet fully recovered from the injuries that kept him out for most of the 2023 season.
But while his rivals won't have to deal with Kyrgios' booming performances, they may be on the receiving end of his outspoken opinions, as broadcaster Eurosport revealed the Canberra-born star will offer his 'unique perspectives' on the tournament.
“To enhance storytelling like never before, we've put together one of the most impressive expert line-ups of tennis legends and superstars,” said Eurosport boss Scott Young.
“We are extremely excited to welcome Nick Kyrgios to our English commentary team this year and know fans will benefit from his unique perspectives and proximity to the current crop of champions and competitors taking the field this year.”

Kyrgios will join tennis royalty in Eurosport's coverage, including Boris Becker, John McEnroe, Mats Wilander, Justine Henin, Alex Corretja, Barbara Schett, Tim Henman and Laura Robson.
The 28-year-old had a fantastic 2022 season, reaching the Wimbledon final against Novak Djokovic and winning the Australian Open doubles with good friend Thanasi Kokkinakis.
However, in 2023 he suffered a miserable series of injuries that limited him to only one professional match all year, a straight defeat to China's Wu Yibing at the Stuttgart Open in June.
The Australian star was not named in the main draw and confirmed on his newly created OnlyFans account that he will miss the local grand slam due to an ongoing wrist problem.
“Hey guys, Nick Kyrgios here, obviously had a really tough year with injury, had that knee surgery and came back a little early (which set me back a little bit, obviously had some wrist issues),” Kyrgios said.
The 28-year-old was confirmed as a pundit for Eurosport on Monday
“So this is a very disappointing time for me, but yes, I will not be able to participate in the 2024 Australian Open.
“Obviously it's heartbreaking, I've had so many great memories there and I just want to get back to playing at the top of my game and doing well, and I just need a little more time.
'I was so close to winning a grand slam. I want to make sure my body gets the time it needs to come back, so be patient.”
